The Group 1 Lion City Cup dates back to 1974 and has long been regarded as Singapore’s domestic premier sprint race that showcases the ability of the best sprinters in Singapore.
Famous champion sprinter, Rocket Man, has won the Lion City Cup a record four times from 2009 to 2012. Last year, the race was captured by Lim’s Lightning, who provided trainer Daniel Meagher with his first Group 1 win ever.
The Lion City Cup feature race runs over 1,200m on turf and carries a prize purse of $300,000.
