SINGAPORE, 19 April 2019 – Commanding 124 hectares of land in the far north-western part of Singapore, the Singapore Turf Club (STC) is nestled within the expansive space and lush green surroundings of the Singapore Racecourse. With a rich history of 177 years, the Club has been providing quality horse racing as sports entertainment and engaging the community with public events such as community walks and runs, cycling events, mass dances and qigong exercises, as well as lifestyle events such as Singapore Symphony Orchestra performances, farmer’s markets and nostalgic street food markets. The partnership with Invade as the venue sponsor for Shilin Singapore is one such platform to make available the racecourse for public use.

As part of the scenic racecourse grounds, STC is surrounded byrustic and picturesque greenery, with tracks and trails for nature lovers on one side and an enormous industrial estate that focuses on the construction and textiles sectors on the other side. Its location is conveniently accessible by both private and public transport, including the Kranji MRT Station.

STC is strategically located in close proximity to recreational places such as the Mandai Wildlife Park, Rail Corridor, Sungei Wetland Reserves and Kranji Marsh. It is also very accessible by the residents in the Woodlands and Marsiling-Yew Tee GRC.  STC is part of the Northern Gateway to Singapore, as showcased at the 2019 URA Master Plan Exhibition.

“We are excited to work with URA, government agencies and partners in the people sectors to study how the Singapore Racecourse can be repurposed to serve as a community destination in the North Region to serve Singaporeans.

“The Singapore Racecourse will be a new outfit and unique destination providing more lifestyle, community and recreation programs besides horse-racing activities,” said Mr Chong Boo Ching, President and Chief Executive, Singapore Turf Club.

We welcome ideas and suggestions from the public to make the racecourse a quality destination for community, commercial and lifestyle recreation to cater to families, the young and the seniors.  Please visit our website at https://www.racecourseproject.com.sg for more information and to provide your feedback.
