Inaugurated in 1991, the Raffles Cup is named after Sir Stamford Raffles, the founder of Singapore.
The 2022 edition of the Raffles Cup (1,600m) was delayed till March this year due to the streamlining and revision of races on the local racing calendar during the COVID-19 pandemic. There will be a second running of the Raffles Cup on September 23, as the first leg of the reinstated Triple Crown series, together with the second leg, the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth II Cup (1,800m) and the final leg, the Group 1 Singapore Gold Cup (2,000m).
