COMMINGLING OF BETTING POOLS FOR HONG KONG RACES – BIGGER WIN, PLACE, FORECAST, PLACE FORECAST AND TIERCE POOLS
Starting 10 December 2014, Singapore Turf Club (STC) will commingle its WIN, PLACE, FORECAST, PLACE FORECAST and TIERCE pools into the respective pools operated by The Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC).
Currently, STC operates its own WIN, PLACE, FORECAST, PLACE FORECAST, TIERCE, TRIO, QUARTET and QUADRO pools for Hong Kong races, independently of the pools operated by HKJC. The TRIO, QUARTET and QUADRO pools will not be commingled and will continue to be operated as separate pools by STC.
With commingling, customers in Singapore and Hong Kong will bet directly into combined WIN, PLACE, FORECAST, PLACE FORECAST and TIERCE pools for all Hong Kong races. The bigger pools will provide more stability and possibly better dividends for customers in both Singapore and Hong Kong.
From 10 December 2014, the sale of bets by STC for all Hong Kong races will stop when the last horse in the race is being loaded into the starting gate. This applies to all commingled and non-commingled pools for Hong Kong races, and is a temporary measure stipulated by HKJC to ensure that the transmission of bets to HKJC proceeds smoothly. This restriction will be lifted once HKJC is assured that commingling is proceeding smoothly.
For a Hong Kong race with commingled pools, all display monitors will show the pool sizes for WIN, PLACE, FORECAST, PLACE FORECAST and TIERCE in blue. In the event that a race is not commingled due to unforeseen technical problems, the pool sizes will be shown in white on display monitors, as per current practice.
