RACE 11 (R442)
RUSH HOUR which was up 26kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the
Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.
RUSH HOUR was slow to begin.
SAMURAI EMPEROR reared on jumping and was a little slow to begin.
SAMURAI EMPEROR had to steady off the heels of NO COMMENT at about the 800M
mark. Simultaneously, GRADUATE BOY rolled in resulting in JUST LET GO having to
check off the heels of SAMURAI EMPEROR. TRINITY TREASURE which was
following, had to switch out over the heels of JUST LET GO and in so doing, carried
WISEMAN and EASTERN SCORPION outwards. Jockey Y Aify, the rider of
GRADUATE BOY, was shown the video of the incident, was severely reprimanded and
warned to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.
EASTERN SCORPION and SMASHING PINS both raced wide on the turn.
SMASHING PINS which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before
being entered to race again.
A post-race veterinary examination of JUST LET GO revealed that it was lame off fore
and as such will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being entered to race again.
Post-race veterinary examinations of BLACK ARROW and EASTERN SCORPION
revealed no obvious abnormality. BLACK ARROW and EASTERN SCORPION which
both raced poorly, will each be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being entered
to race again.

RACE 4 (R398), 1ST DAY, SATURDAY, 19TH MARCH 2011, PENANG TURF
CLUB MARCH MEETING 2011
On 25th March 2011 at the Selangor Turf Club, the Stewards concluded an Inquiry into
the running and handling of AMAZING SURPRISE. Evidence was taken from Jockey S
Marzuki and Trainer Jerome Tan, the rider and trainer of AMAZING SURPRISE
respectively.
Jockey S Marzuki was found guilty of a charge under MRA Rule 44(8) in that whilst
riding AMAZING SURPRISE in the above race, he failed to take all reasonable and
permissible measures to ensure that AMAZING SURPRISE was given full opportunity
of obtaining the best possible placing.
The particulars of the charge were that:
1. From passing the 600M to approximately the 250M mark, he failed to
improve his mount when there were opportunities to do so;
2. From approaching the 200M to the finish, he failed to ride his mount with
sufficient vigour and determination whilst his mount was running on strongly.
When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into consideration the facts of this case,
Jockey S Marzukis poor record and points of mitigation. After considering the
provisions of MRA Rule 44(8)(a), Jockey S Marzuki was disqualified for a period of two
(2) years with immediate effect from 25th March 2011 and to expire on 24th March 2013,
both days inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal (4:15pm).
Jockey S Marzuki subsequently exercised his Right of Appeal and applied for a Stay of
Sentence. The Stewards considered the application for a stay which was denied. He was
advised of his Right of Appeal against the Stipendiary Stewards decision not to grant
him a Stay of Sentence.
