CLASS 4 1400M


Prior to the start, COMMONS GEM (V Sivan) was examined by the Veterinary
Surgeon and passed fit to race.

WASSAIC (App TH Koh) was fractious in the barrier. In view of its previous
record and as WASSAIC is a repeat offender, it will be barred from racing or
entering for a test trial for a period of fourteen days, after which it must pass
two consecutive starting stall tests.

COMMON INTEREST (S John), which was fractious in the barrier, was taken
out, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to race. In view of
its previous record and as COMMON INTEREST is a repeat offender, it will be
barred from racing or entering for a test trial for a period of one month, after
which it must pass two consecutive starting stall tests and a subsequent
veterinary examination.

KNIGHTS PARADISE (KK Ng) was slow to begin.

Passing the 1200m, MY NINJA (App SH Low) steadied when crowded
between GANGLAND (J Powell) and KNIGHTS PARADISE, which rolled
outwards. Jockey KK Ng was subsequently shown the film of the incident
and warned to exercise greater care when shifting ground in future.

WINNING HEART (E Aslam) raced wide without cover throughout.

In the early part of the straight, LUCKY RISE (YF Leong) had difficulty
obtaining a clear run.

MARTEL (J Moreira) shifted outwards under pressure over the concluding
stages.

The Farrier reported that OIL BARON (S Sam) returned having cast its near-
fore plate.

App Koh, the rider of WASSAIC, reported that the geldings saddle slipped
back during the running.

Jockey S John, the rider of COMMON INTEREST, reported that the geldings
saddle slipped back during the running. The Veterinary Surgeon
subsequently confirmed that COMMON INTEREST had returned with its
saddle having shifted backwards.

App Koh, when questioned regarding the disappointing performance of
WASSAIC, stated that his mount was fractious in the barrier and did not
begin as well as he had hoped. He added that the gelding travelled
reasonably well in the early and middle stages but when pressured from the
400m, failed to run on. His explanation was noted. WASSAIC was
impounded for routine veterinary and analytical examination. The Veterinary
Surgeon reported no apparent abnormality.

Jockey J Saimee, when questioned regarding the disappointing performance
of THE CINDERELLA MAN, stated that from the wide barrier, he was
instructed to go back and attempt to get cover which he was able to do
shortly after the start. He added that the gelding did not travel well at any
stage and dipped and changed strides on a number of occasions and in his
opinion, was very disappointing. His explanation was noted. THE
CINDERELLA MAN was impounded for routine veterinary and analytical
examination. The Veterinary Surgeon reported no apparent abnormality.

The Veterinary Surgeon reported that COMMONS GEM exhibited signs of
respiratory distress after the race. COMMONS GEM will be required to pass
a 1000m gallop trial and veterinary examination prior to being declared to
race again.



GENERAL

RACE MEETING STEWARDS' HEARING OF AN APPEAL BY APP S RUZAINI
AGAINST THE DECISION OF THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS AND THE
PENALTY IMPOSED ON HIM AFTER BEING FOUND GUILTY OF A CHARGE
UNDER MRA RULE 136(3)(b) RELATING TO A CERTIFICATE OF ANALYSIS
STATING THAT SAMPLE NUMBER J-2381 WAS SHOWN TO CONTAIN
METHAMPHETAMINE AND UPON DECODING WAS FOUND TO HAVE BEEN
TAKEN FROM APP S RUZAINI AT THE SINGAPORE TURF CLUB MEETING
ON FRIDAY, 01 OCTOBER 2010

The Stipendiary Stewards found App S Ruzaini, in the presence of his Master,
Trainer S Cook, guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 136(3)(b) on Thursday,
18 November 2010 in that on Friday, 01 October 2010, he presented himself
and fulfilled his riding engagements at the Singapore Turf Club Meeting that
day, during the course of this Meeting, he provided a urine sample which
upon analysis was found to contain the presence of Methamphetamine, in
excess of the threshold limits in the rules and thereby defined as a prohibited
substance under the MRA Rules of Racing.

When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account the submissions
from App Ruzaini and his Master, Trainer Cook, his record and the nature of
the prohibited substance.

App Ruzaini was disqualified for a period of three years with immediate effect
from Thursday, 18 November 2010 to Sunday, 17 November 2013 both
dates inclusive and he was advised of his Right of Appeal.

On Friday, 19 November 2010, App Ruzaini exercised his Right of Appeal
against the decision of the Stipendiary Stewards and the penalty imposed on
him.

The Race Meeting Stewards heard the Appeal on Friday, 18 February 2011.

During the Appeal Hearing, App Ruzainis Master, Trainer Cook, informed that
App Ruzaini was only appealing against the severity of the penalty imposed
on him and not appealing against the decision of the Stipendiary Stewards.

After considering submissions from App Ruzaini, his Master, Trainer Cook and
the Chairman of the Inquiry Panel, the Race Meeting Stewards allowed the
Appeal against the severity of the penalty imposed by the Stipendiary
Stewards. In regards to penalty, the disqualification was reduced to a period
of two years with effect from Thursday, 18 November 2010 to Saturday,
17 November 2012 both dates inclusive. His deposit was refunded.

RACE 4 [TF59]

At the conclusion of an Inquiry on Thursday, 17 February 2011, Trainer T
Kieser pleaded guilty to a charge of negligence under MRA Rule of Racing
152(5)(a) in that he, Trainer Kieser, the Trainer and person responsible for
presenting the horses, BOMB BLAST (KK Ng) and MANDINGO (I Saifudin), to
race in Race 4 Restricted Maiden 1200m, at the Singapore Turf Club Meeting
on Sunday, 09 January 2011, did initially present these horses incorrectly
saddled in that BOMB BLAST was presented saddled with a lead bag which
was not part of the gear weighed out by its rider and MANDINGO was
saddled without a lead bag which was part of the gear weighed out by its
rider. When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account his record
and the nature of the charge. Trainer Kieser was fined a sum of S$4,000 and
was advised of his Right of Appeal.

FRIDAY, 14 JANUARY 2011:

RACE 7 [TF74]

An Inquiry into the running and riding on PINA COLARDA (App JL Li) was
concluded on Tuesday, 15 February 2011. App Li stated that he was
instructed to settle back in the field. However, PINA COLARDA pulled
extremely hard in the early stages and after becoming awkwardly placed on
heels, he elected to shift outwards near the 1400m and thereafter, raced
wide throughout. Trainer L Khoo confirmed the instructions. In the
circumstances, the Stewards were of the opinion that there was insufficient
evidence to substantiate a charge. However, App Li was advised that he
must ride in a manner so as not to arise query.

FRIDAY, 14 JANUARY 2011:

RACE 8 [TF75]

An Inquiry into the running and riding on FORTUNE EIGHT (App JL Li) was
concluded on Tuesday, 15 February 2011. App Li stated that he was
instructed to ride the gelding in a similar manner as when he last won on it.
As such, he settled FORTUNE EIGHT in a rearward position and commenced
to improve his position from the 1200m. Trainer S Chua confirmed the
instructions. In the circumstances, the Stewards were of the opinion that
there was insufficient evidence to substantiate a charge. However, App Li
was advised that he must ride in a manner so as not to arise query and to be
mindful of not covering unnecessary ground.

SUNDAY, 30 JANUARY 2011:

RACE 9 [TF169]

The Inquiry into the running and riding of GOOD DAY in the ninth race at the
Singapore Turf Club Meeting on Sunday, 30 January 2011 was concluded on
Tuesday, 15 February 2011. App JL Li, the rider of GOOD DAY, in the
presence of his Master, Trainer D Koh, pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA
Rule 44(10) in that between the 600m and the 400m, he failed to ride to the
satisfaction of the Stewards when he failed to ride his mount along to
improve his position, as instructed and when there was an opportunity to do
so. When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account his record,
guilty plea, the nature of the charge and submissions from App Li that he has
been engaged to ride at the Singapore Race Meetings on Friday, 18 February
2011 and Sunday, 20 February 2011. The Stewards determined to suspend
his licence to ride in races for a period of two months and acting under MRA
Rule 48(5), the commencement of the suspension was deferred to begin on
Monday, 21 February 2011 until Wednesday, 20 April 2011 both dates
inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

On Tuesday, 15 February 2011, App JL Li, when questioned regarding his
riding of ABDICATE, stated that after entering the homestraight, ABDICATE
commenced to lay inwards and he endeavoured to ride in a manner so as the
gelding would not shift inwards. App Li was advised that they were
concerned with his riding actions when attempting to prevent ABDICATE from
shifting inwards. He was further advised to improve his riding proficiency
and to work with the Singapore Turf Club Riding Master in an attempt to do
so.
