RACE 5 (R044)
Emergency acceptor, WONDERFUL MOMENT was withdrawn due to a capacity field.
Acting on the provisions of MRA Rule 21(1)(g), the Stewards replaced Jockey S Sani
with Jockey I Saifudin on SIMPLY HONOUR.
SPEED HORSE was a little slow to begin.
SIMPLY HONOUR commenced to over-race shortly after entering the back straight till
the 1100M.
Passing the 1000M, SIMPLY HONOUR shifted inwards in an attempt to take the near
bend and shortly thereafter, had to steady off the heels of NEW HOPE which shifted in.
GURAGAS hung out in the home straight and had to be straightened.
In the last 100M, DUKE GREG rolled out under pressure and brushed SUNNY
BRAVIA.
Subsequent to the running of this race, App S Fauzi (SUNNY BRAVIA) was stood down
by the Club Medical Officer.
Jockeys R Burnett and M Wepner, the riders of BRILLIANT KNIGHT and ICY
DOMAIN respectively, reported that their horses did not act in the going. A post-race
veterinary examination of ICY DOMAIN revealed no obvious abnormality.
A post-race veterinary examination of CAUSE AND EFFECT revealed no obvious
abnormality.
App J Lim, in the presence of his Master, Trainer KF Coetzee, was questioned regarding
the jump of BLACK SAPPHIRE. App J Lim explained that prior to the gates being
released, BLACK SAPPHIRE was restless and attempted to duck under the gates. He
said that because of this, he tightened his hold and as the gates were released, his horse
threw its head up and struck the outside gate heavily. After reviewing the videos of the
incident, the Stewards informed him that they have decided to take no further action other
than to advise him that in future he must be ready at all times when boxed. A post-race
veterinary examination of BLACK SAPPHIRE revealed no obvious abnormality.
