RACE 3 [TF1589]
CLASS 4 1600M
DIVISION 3
MESTI BOLEH (App M Firdaus) was difficult to be loaded. Trainer J Meagher was advised that a warning has been placed on MESTI BOLEH regarding its barrier manners and to take steps to improve them or action may be taken in future.
ROYAL BRAT (V Duric), which reared as the start was effected and lost ground, will be required to pass one starting stall test and a veterinary examination prior to being entered to race again in terms of MRA Rule 78(2). In this incident, ROYAL BRAT struck its head heavily on the barrier stall. A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on ROYAL BRAT which revealed that after endoscopy examination, the horse was bleeding from both nostrils as a result of head trauma suffered at the start and therefore, was not deemed as a bleeder under the Rules.
Approaching the 1500m, HEAR ME (S John), which was racing keenly, got its head up when awkwardly placed on the heels of MAKE A RETURN (App J See).
JOYLUCK (B Vorster) and ACE AVIDA (M Gallagher) both raced wide without cover throughout.
MESTI BOLEH and ACE AVIDA were both inclined to lay inwards in the straight.
Jockey Duric, the rider of ROYAL BRAT, reported that the geldings saddle slipped back during the race. The Veterinary Surgeon subsequently confirmed that ROYAL BRAT had returned with its saddle having shifted backwards.
The Veterinary Surgeon reported that PRINZIO (R Fradd) bled. In terms of MRA Rule 92(3), it will not be permitted to canter or gallop on the main training tracks of any racecourse for a period of two months, and may not start in any race for a period of three months, and then only after having satisfactorily passed a bleeders test.
A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on DOUBLE DOSE (O Placais) which revealed no apparent abnormality.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of HEAR ME, Jockey S John, stated that after beginning well, his mount commenced to overrace, proving very difficult to settle. He added that in the early and middle stages, he was obliged to race wide but was able to obtain cover in the backstraight. He further stated that when placed under pressure from the 600m, the gelding failed to run on and had disappointed. His explanation was noted. HEAR ME was impounded for routine veterinary and analytical examination. The Veterinary Surgeon reported no apparent abnormality.
