STIPE'S REPORT RACE 6 (R1086) BELIEVE ME which was up 15kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start. The State of Track was downgraded to yielding before the running of this race and the race was run in steady rain. All riders returned to scale an average of 3kgs overweight due to the adverse weather conditions. OVERWEENING was obliged to race wide on the bend. Approaching the 100M, AMARONE faltered and became unbalanced. OVERWEENING which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being entered to race again. Post-race veterinary examinations of AMARONE and DRAGON STRONG revealed no obvious abnormality. The State of Track was further downgraded to soft after the running of this race. When questioned regarding the apparent poor performance of BELIEVE ME, Trainer M Sukri advised the Stewards that he was at a lost as he was of the opinion that BELIEVE ME would run a much improved race today after having worked well during the week. He added, however, its rider reported to him on returning to scale that BELIEVE ME was making respiratory noises during the race and also added that the gelding had never ran in rain affected conditions throughout its career. After hearing his explanation, the Stewards directed Trainer Sukri to present BELIEVE ME to the Veterinary Surgeon tomorrow morning for a second veterinary examination, including an endoscopy. He was further advised that he would be expected to report back to the Stewards if there is anything amiss with the gelding during the week. App S Ruzaini, the rider of BELIEVE ME, reported that his horse was making marked respiratory noises. A post-race veterinary examination of BELIEVE ME which raced poorly, revealed no obvious abnormality. The gelding will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being entered to race again and was impounded.
