RACE 3 [TF1062]
CLASS 4 SC (A) 1400M
DIVISION 3
Acting on veterinary advice that HARRISON (J Saimee) was found to be lame near-fore, the Race Meeting Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 1342Hrs. In terms of MRA Regulation 24.2, it must be presented to an Official Veterinary Surgeon prior to being declared to race again.
SKY LORD (J Moreira) and OBLIVION (KB Soo) were both slow to begin.
SENOR LINEAR (B Vorster) and SECONDTONONE (App SH Low) bumped heavily on jumping.
Over the concluding stages, SENOR LINEAR, MY WAY (App A Feiruz) and RECYCLE STAR (I Andy) all raced tight to the inside of TOP VENTURE (D Beasley), which shifted inwards. Jockey Beasley was subsequently shown the film of the incident and warned to exercise greater care when shifting ground in future.
When questioned regarding the run of SKY LORD, Jockey Moreira, stated that after jumping away a little slow, he urged his horse along in the early stages to gain a forward position. Thereafter, SKY LORD raced a little bit keenly in the early and middle stages and commenced to give ground shortly after making the turn into the straight. The Stewards considered the sectional times which indicated that the pace of the race was not unreasonable and as such, Jockey Moreiras explanation was noted. SKY LORD was impounded for routine veterinary and analytical examination. The Veterinary Surgeon reported no apparent abnormality.
