Rider, when questioned, stated that after beginning awkwardly, his mount travelled well and when placed under pressure near the 500m, initially responded and improved, however, over the concluding stages, was one paced and gave ground. His explanation was noted. A subsequent veterinary examination was requested which revealed that the gelding returned with debris in its trachea.

When overracing had to be checked off the heels of ANONYMOUS, approaching the 900m.

Race wide without cover.

Shifted outwards badly in the straight. Will be required to pass a 1000m gallop trial from the barrier and veterinary examination prior to being declared to race again.

Jumped awkwardly and refused to settle in the early stages and had to be restrained off the heels of LIM¿S REGARD, for some distance.

Rider, when questioned, stated that the horse proved very difficult to settle in the early and middle stages and then failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure from the 500m and was disappointing over the concluding stages. A subsequent veterinary examination was requested which revealed that the horse returned lame off-fore. Will be required to pass a 1000m gallop trial and veterinary examination prior to being declared to race again.

After arriving at the barrier, its saddle was readjusted.

Blundered on jumping away, shifted inwards bumping BEN GUNN, which was also slow to begin. Raced wide without cover.

When questioned, explained that after having its saddle readjusted behind the barrier, his saddle again slipped at the start after jumping away awkwardly. He said that he was instructed to try and gained a position midfield, however the paced was quite slow and was obliged to race wide. At the same time being disadvantaged with the positioning of his saddle.

The Veterinary Surgeon reported that the saddle slipped back during the race.

Prior to the running of Race 4, Trainer S Gray advised the Stewards that his instructions to the rider, if circumstances permit, to ride off the paced from a wide barrier.

An Objection was lodged by Jockey O Placais, the rider of second placegetter, LITTLE BIG MAN, against MELTING POINT, being declared the winner, on the grounds of interference over the final 400m. On the evidence, it was established that after passing the 400m, LITTLE BIG MAN was approximately three horses from the inside fence and after that point was committed to the outside of MELTING POINT, which continued to shift outwards several horses denying LITTLE BIGMMAN an uninterrupted run towards the Winning Post and had it not been for the interference bearing in mind its head margin between these two horses at the finished , LITTLE BIG MAN would have finished in front of MELTING POINT, and therefore upheld the objection and reversed the placings. The result was amended.

B Vorster, the rider of MELTING POINT, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that inside the final 400m, he failed to make sufficient effort to prevent his mount from shifting outwards in the home straight finishing extremely wide on the track when not clear of LITTLE BIG MAN, which was subsequently taken out off it¿s course. After taking into account Jockey Vorster¿s guilty plea, the degree of interference, the racing manners of MELTING POINT and submission from Jockey Vorster that he has been engaged to ride at the Singapore Turf Club Meetings on Friday, 09 November 2018 and Sunday, 11 November 2018. The Stewards determined to suspend his licence to ride in races and acting under MRA Rule 48(5), the commencement of the suspension was deferred to begin on Monday 12 November 2018 until Sunday, 18 November 2018 both dates inclusive (two Singapore race days) and was advised of his Right of Appeal.
