OL MATE BUZZER
Prior to the running of Race 1, Trainer KY Young advised the Stewards that his instructions to the rider, if circumstances permit, to ride it quiet and settle it in a midfield position with some cover, look for clear running in the straight and ride it strong from the 400m to obtain its best position.
Settled in a midfield position.
Bumped BELL AIR on jumping. Unable to improve its position from the 500m when held up for clear running until near the 350m.
Rider, when questioned, stated that the gelding travelled reasonably well in the early stages, however, when placed under pressure just prior to the 400m, his mount failed to respond and then tired noticeably in the homestraight. His explanation was noted. Impounded for routine veterinary and analytical examination. The Veterinary Surgeon reported that the horse returned lame off-fore. In view of its poor performance, it will be required to pass a 1000m gallop trial from the barrier and a veterinary examination prior to being declared to race again.
KING OF GLORY
Crowded on jumping between GOOD WARRIOR, which jumped outwards and HIGH LIMIT, which jumped inwards. As a result, KING OF GLORY lost ground.
Rider reported that after suffering interference at the start, his mount was reluctant to stretch out in the early stages despite his urgings.
Jockey D Moor, the rider of OL MATE BUZZER, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that near the 600m, he permitted his mount to shift outwards, tightening the running of BELL AIR, which lost ground after making heavy contact with the hindquarters of ORDOS LEGEND, causing that horse to become unbalanced. When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account his record, guilty plea, the degree of interference and carelessness and submissions from Jockey Moor that he has been engaged to ride at the Singapore Race Meetings on Sunday, 23 September 2018, Tuesday, 25 September 2018 and Friday, 28 September 2018. The Stewards determined to suspend his licence to ride in races and acting under MRA Rule 48(5), the commencement of the suspension was deferred to begin on Saturday, 29 September 2018 until Sunday, 07 October 2018 both dates inclusive (two Singapore Race Days). He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
