SINGAPORE MARCH MEETING 2018
FRIDAY, 23 MARCH 2018:

RACE 6 [TF0373]

On Sunday, 17 June 2018, Jockey R Woodworth, the rider of NOVA MISSILE, was charged with careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding NOVA MISSILE in Race 6 at the Singapore Turf Club Meeting on Friday, 23 March 2018, near the 700m, he permitted his mount to shift inwards, when insufficiently clear of SEBAS (G Boss), resulting in that runner having to be checked.

On Tuesday, 26 June 2018, after hearing further evidence and submissions from Jockey Woodworth, in relation to the careless riding charge and having reviewed the video footage, it was established that NOVA MISSILE had shifted inwards slightly passing the 700m, momentarily tightening SEBAS, which had shifted outwards slightly making the turn near this point of the race. The Stewards were of the opinion that whilst Jockey Woodworth, the rider of NOVA MISSILE, was not culpable to the requisite standard to sustain the charge, he was, however, issued with a warning to take greater care when shifting ground in future.

SINGAPORE APRIL MEETING 2018
TUESDAY, 24 APRIL 2018:

RACE 1 [TF0532]

On Wednesday, 30 May 2018, App CC Wong, the rider of SUN SEEKER, in the presence of his Master, Trainer KS Tan, was charged with careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding SUN SEEKER in Race 1 at the Singapore Turf Club Meeting on Tuesday, 24 April 2018, making the turn into the straight, he allowed his mount to shift outwards, when insufficiently clear, thereby carrying SOON YI (N Juglall) out into the running of EVERTRUST (B Vorster), which was tightened for room and bumped the hindquarters of HIGHLIGHT (C Grylls), turning that gelding inwards. As a result, EVERTRUST was further crowded and had to be checked. When being checked, EVERTRUST clipped heels and blundered.

On Tuesday, 26 June 2018, further evidence and submissions were taken from App Wong and his Master, Trainer Tan, Jockey Juglall, Jockey Grylls and Jockey Vorster , in relation to the careless riding charge. Having reviewed the evidence and the video footage, it was established that SUN SEEKER has bumped SOON YI approaching the hometurn when attempting to improve to the outside of KUBERA¿S CHIEF (R Curatolo). This resulted in SOON YI shifting outwards slightly, placing EVERTRUST in restricted room between SOON YI and HIGHLIGHT. EVERTRUST has then bumped the hindquarters of HIGHLIGHT, turning that gelding inwards, and crowding EVERTRUST further, resulting in EVERTRUST clipping the heels of HIGHLIGHT and blundering. The Stewards were not satisfied to the requisite standard that App Wong was culpable under the Rules to sustain the charge. App Wong was however issued with a warning to take greater care when shifting ground in future.

SINGAPORE JUNE MEETING 2018
SUNDAY, 10 JUNE 2018:

RACE 9 [TF0733]

On Tuesday, 26 June 2018, the Stewards concluded an Inquiry into the reasons OXBOW SUN (R Woodworth) having to check when racing to the inside of TALES OF SUMMER (M Rodd) approaching the 1000m. It was established that approaching the 1000m, OXBOW SUN had to be momentarily eased when TALES OF SUMMER had shifted inwards. In the circumstances, no blame could be attributed to any rider and as such, no further action was taken. However, Jockey Rodd was warned and advised that he must exercise greater care when shifting ground in future.

RACE 9 [TF0733]

On Sunday, 17 June 2018, Jockey N Juglall, the rider of QUEEN ROULETTE, was charged with careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding QUEEN ROULETTE in Race 9 at the Singapore Turf Club Meeting on Sunday, 10 June 2018, approaching the 900m, he permitted his mount to shift inwards, when insufficiently clear of OXBOW SUN (R Woodworth), which had to be checked when racing tight to the outside of MEET AND GREET (G Boss).

On Tuesday, 26 June 2018, after hearing further evidence and submissions from Jockey Juglall, in relation to the careless riding charge and having reviewed the video footage, it was established that QUEEN ROULETTE had shifted inwards approaching the 900m tightening the running of OXBOW SUN, MEET AND GREET and WALKING THUNDER (A Munro). Shortly thereafter, OXBOW SUN became awkwardly placed on the heels of QUEEN ROULETTE, after being carried outwards slightly by MEET AND GREET, which in turn had been carried outwards slightly by WALKING THUNDER, which had shifted outwards marginally on the point of the turn near the 900m. The Stewards could not comfortably satisfied that any one rider was responsible and did not sustain the charge. Jockey Juglall was, however, warned to take greater care when shifting ground in future.
