RACE 1 [TF797]
CLASS 5 1400M
Jockey KB Soo, the rider of RAGING BULL, was fined S$200 for negligence in terms of MRA Rule 152(5)(a) in that he accepted two rides in the same race during Declarations on Wednesday, 23 June 2010.
DARING YOUTH (S John) was restless in the barrier. Trainer S Chua was advised that a warning has been placed on DARING YOUTH regarding its barrier manners and to take steps to improve them or action may be taken in future.
DOUBLE FIANCHETTO (O Chavez) began awkwardly, shifted inwards, bumped the hind-quarters of CEPAT LARI WINS (I Saifudin) and then shortly after, steadied off the heels of CHUN DOONG (S Cormack), which was bumped inwards by DUSTIN (V Duric).
MAHA VEERAN (App TH Koh) began awkwardly.
Near the 1200m, SMART FLYER (S Sam) steadied when momentarily crowded between WIN LOTS (R Stewart), which shifted outwards and INNOCENT STAR (J Powell), which rolled inwards.
MAHA VEERAN and PERFECT DIAMOND (App A Feiruz) bumped on several occasions approaching the 1000m.
Passing the 1000m, INNOCENT STAR and I STAR (J Moreira) bumped heavily when I STAR shifted inwards away from SALVAGENTE (E Aslam).
DOUBLE FIANCHETTO raced wide without cover from the 1000m.
Approaching the 600m, I STAR steadied and lost ground when crowded between INNOCENT STAR, which shifted outwards slightly and SALVAGENTE, which rolled inwards. CEPAT LARI WINS, which was following, was hampered in consequence. Jockey Aslam and Jockey Powell were subsequently shown the film of the incident and warned to exercise greater care when shifting ground in future.
Passing the 600m, PAINT THE WAY (B Vorster) steadied when momentarily racing tight between MAHA VEERAN and DOUBLE FIANCHETTO.
Near the 400m, DARING YOUTH and DUSTIN bumped resulting in DUSTIN becoming unbalanced.
Passing the 300m, SMART FLYER and SALVAGENTE brushed on several occasions when SMART FLYER shifted outwards away from WIN LOTS.
PERFECT DIAMOND laid inwards under pressure over the concluding stages.
PAINT THE WAY laid inwards in the early part of the straight and then when making ground over the final 200m, PAINT THE WAY steadied off the heels of DUSTIN, which shifted outwards.
I STAR, which raced poorly, will be required to pass a 1000m gallop trial and veterinary examination prior to being entered to race again.
When questioned regarding the performance of PAINT THE WAY, Jockey Vorster, stated that his instructions were to ride the gelding where comfortable and he added that despite racing near the tail of the field PAINT THE WAY travelled well. He added that after being crowded near the 600m, he elected to shift inwards to improve and the gelding ran on well. His explanation was noted.
When questioned regarding the performance of DUSTIN, Jockey Duric, stated that the gelding had to work harder than he would have hoped from a wide barrier but during the race travelled well. He added that when placed under pressure from the 500m, DUSTIN failed to run on and disappointed. His explanation was noted. DUSTIN was impounded for routine veterinary and analytical examination. The Veterinary Surgeon reported no apparent abnormality.
When questioned regarding the performance of DOUBLE FIANCHETTO, Jockey Chavez, stated after being slightly slow to begin, he was crowded and lost more ground. He further stated that he pressured his mount in the early stages in an attempt to improve his position but the gelding failed to respond. He added that over the final 300m, he became concerned with the action of DOUBLE FIANCHETTO and for this reason, he did not unduly pressure the gelding over the concluding stages. His explanation was noted. DOUBLE FIANCHETTO was impounded for routine veterinary and analytical examination. The Veterinary Surgeon reported that DOUBLE FIANCHETTO bled. In terms of MRA Rule 92(3), it will not be permitted to canter or gallop on the main training tracks of any racecourse for a period of two months, and may not start in any race for a period of three months, and then only after having satisfactorily passed a bleeders test.
