RACE 1 (R143) CLASS 5 1400M (LONG COURSE A)
SUCCESS ALL THE WAY STAKES
App R Fakruddin was fined RM100/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for failing
to utilize his claim fully on RUBICON.
SATELLITE LEGEND (Lou Ho) was examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind
the barriers at the request of Jockey Lou Ho as he felt that there was something amiss with
the geldings actions. The gelding was subsequently passed fit to take its place in the field.
The start was further delayed when RUBICON (App R Fakruddin) was fractious behind
the barriers and was difficult to be loaded into the barriers.
Upon jumping, ANGEL OF MINE (App WK Lee) shifted outwards and SIXDAY
SEVENNIGHT (Y Aify) shifted inwards, severely crowding JUST NAME IT (App SU
Lim) for room.
RUBICON jumped outwards and made contact with VALENTINE BABY (J Shankar).
WENONAS LEGACY (J De Souza) was caught racing wide in the early stages before
progressing forward and gaining a position outside the leader approaching the 800M.
SATELLITE LEGEND and POWERFUL FIGHTER (App CK Khaw) were both caught
racing wide throughout the event.
RAINBOW CENTRE (App AK Lim) was held up for a clear run entering the front straight
behind runners in front.
Approaching the 200M, ANGEL OF MINE was held up for a run and had to shift out off
the heels of RAINBOW CENTRE in order to gain a clear run.
Approaching the 200M, RUBICON which was held up for a run, had to be eased off the
heels of JERAM GLORY (M Ganeesh).
Upon returning to scales, App AK Lim, the rider of RAINBOW CENTRE, reported that
his horse raced greenly.
The Stewards opened an inquiry into the tactics that were adopted on JERAM GLORY (M
Ganeesh) particularly in the home straight. The Stewards concern was Jockey M Ganeesh
failed to take a run to the outside of WENONAS LEGACY in the home straight when
there was an opportunity to do so, and he elected to stay to the inside where in the opinion
of the Stewards, there would be insufficient room to obtain a clear run.
After taking extensive evidence from Jockey M Ganeesh and Trainer WC Lim and after
viewing the geldings previous race starts in particular its racing manners, the Stewards
were satisfied with the Trainers explanations and gave Jockey M Ganeesh the benefit of
the doubt on this occasion. Jockey M Ganeesh was cautioned in the strongest terms that
when clear runs present themselves, he should ensure he attempts to take them if possible
to gain the best possible placing.
