As a result, GROUND CONTROL rolled inwards, crowding CASING ROYAL, which eased and lost ground. SUNDAY, 01 OCTOBER 2017:

RACE 5 [TF1238]

On Friday, 20 October 2017, the Stewards concluded an Inquiry into the reasons for ELISE (R Woodworth) having to check when racing between COUNTRY WARRIOR (J Powell) and BORN A FIGHTER (App S Shafrizal) approaching the 900m. It was established that approaching the 900m, ELISE, which was proving very difficult to settle, lost ground after being momentarily crowded between COUNTRY WARRIOR and BORN A FIGHTER, which rolled inwards. In the circumstances, no blame could be attributed to any rider and as such, no further action was taken.

RACE 5 [TF1238]

On Friday, 20 October 2017, after hearing further evidence and submissions from Jockey B Vorster, the rider of SPUR ME ON, and viewing the Stewards' video footage, it was established that approaching the turn near the 800m, RED CLAW (App CS Chin) shifted outwards and away from ELISE (R Woodworth), which was shifting ground when racing keenly. This resulted in RAFALE being carried outwards slightly and becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of SPUR ME ON, which shifted inwards slightly, with RAFALE having to be checked. After considering the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the charge issued against Jockey Vorster could not be sustained and the careless riding charge was withdrawn.
