Due to a technical issue with the main server prior to Race 2, this race was put back five minutes and rescheduled to start at 1325Hrs.

HIGH LIMIT (I Saifudin) was restless in the barrier. Trainer D Meagher was advised that a warning has been placed on HIGH LIMIT regarding its barrier manners and to take steps to improve them or action may be taken in future.

ZAC KASA (M Nunes) was restless in the barrier. Trainer C Brown was advised that a warning has been placed on ZAC KASA regarding its barrier manners and to take steps to improve them or action may be taken in future.

ATEEJ (O Chavez) and NICATOR (App T See) lost ground when crowded on jumping between EASY DOES IT (A Munro), which was carried inwards slightly by HIGH LIMIT and MY GOLD (R Shafiq), which jumped awkwardly outwards.

BALL AND CHAIN (N Juglall) and CROWN DELIGHT (M Ewe) bumped on jumping.

SILVER SKY (O Placais), which was slow into stride, was then crowded between MOLINEUX (G Boss), which jumped awkwardly inwards and ULTIMATE KILLER (App CK Ng), which was carried outwards by ZAC KASA. ULTIMATE KILLER then had to be eased off the heels of MOLINEUX when crowded between that gelding and ZAC KASA.

ZAC KASA got its head up whilst racing keenly when being steadied off the heels of MY GOLD shortly after passing the 1000m. MOLINEUX, which was following and also racing keenly, made contact with ATEEJ when being eased off the heels of ZAC KASA.

CROWN DELIGHT raced greenly and wide throughout.

ATEEJ raced keenly in the middle stages.

Near the 400m, ATEEJ eased whilst racing tight to the inside of HIGH LIMIT and awkwardly placed on the heels of ZAC KASA. Thereafter, ATEEJ was taken inwards. ATEEJ was then taken outwards approaching the 300m to obtain clear running, however, thereafter, ATEEJ had a tendency to hang inwards placing its rider at a disadvantage.

Jockey R Shafiq, the rider of MY GOLD, was warned in regards of his whip use in the vicinity of the shoulder of his mount whilst riding his mount in the straight.

Over the concluding stages, ZAC KASA checked when racing between ATEEJ and EASY DOES IT. At a subsequent Inquiry, Jockey Chavez pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that over the concluding stages, he made insufficient effort to straighten his mount, resulting in ATEEJ shifting inwards, when insufficiently clear, thereby resulting in ZAC KASA having to check. When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account his record, guilty plea and the degree of interference and carelessness. He was suspended from riding in races with effect from Monday, 16 October 2017 to Sunday, 22 October 2017 both dates inclusive (two Singapore Race Days) and was advised of his Right of Appeal.
Jockey R Shafiq, the rider of MY GOLD, reported that the gelding had returned with its saddle having shifted sideways during the running.

Jockey Chavez, when questioned regarding the run of ATEEJ, stated that from the 600m until making the turn into the straight, when racing behind ZAC KASA, he attempted to improve to the outside of that gelding, however, was unable to do so when being held tight by HIGH LIMIT, which was racing to its outside. Shortly after making the turn into the straight, there was a run between HIGH LIMIT and ZAC KASA, which rolled inwards. He then attempted to improve into that run, however, before he was able to improve into the run completely, ZAC KASA rolled outwards, resulting in him having to ease ATEEJ and then shifting the gelding inwards. When further questioned as to why he did not continue to go inwards and take the run to the inside of MY GOLD, he stated that he noticed that Jockey R Shafiq, the rider of MY GOLD, was attempting to direct his mount back to the inside, which was substantiated on the Stewards' Video Footage, and as such, he was concerned that he may again be disappointed for a run. He then took ATEEJ to the outside for clear running and whilst it ran on strongly, he was placed at a disadvantage when it was inclined to hang inwards. His explanation was noted.
