RACE 11 [TF1136]
CAPTAIN OBVIOUS 2011 STAKES
OPEN BENCHMARK 67 LC (B) 1600M

CASING ROYAL (O Chavez) lost ground after beginning awkwardly.

MARK ECLIPSE (K A'Isisuhairi) began awkwardly.

GOLAZO (B Vorster), which was slow into stride, was eased shortly after the start when crowded between SUPERNOVA (V Duric) and SHOW FAR SHOW GOOD (C Grylls), which shifted outwards.

Near the 1500m, EASTER MATE (M Rodd) shifted inwards and bumped CASING ROYAL.

SUPERNOVA raced keenly in the early stages.

Approaching the 1200m, MCGREGOR (M Nunes) got its head up when being eased off the heels of BANDIDO (N Juglall), which shifted inwards.

Near the 1100m, MARK ECLIPSE eased to avoid the heels of SUN HOPLITES (App CC Wong), which shifted inwards. At the same time, AWATERE (R Shafiq) shifted inwards and made contact with the running rail on two occasions, resulting in the gelding becoming unbalanced. LIFE IS GAMBLE (S John), which was following, was hampered in consequence.

Passing the 1100m, CHASE (O Placais) steadied off the heels of BANDIDO, which rolled inwards slightly.

Approaching the 800m, CHASE, which was racing keenly, had to be eased off the heels of BANDIDO, which shifted inwards slightly.

CASING ROYAL, GOLAZO and SHOW FAR SHOW GOOD all raced wide throughout.

BANDIDO had a tendency to lay outwards over the final 200m.

Over the concluding stages, Jockey Juglall, the rider of BANDIDO, dropped his off-side rein.

Jockey R Shafiq reported that AWATERE was not striding out freely. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormality.

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on BEAR WITNESS (A Munro) which revealed no apparent abnormality.
