RACE 3 [TF1029]
CLASS 5 1200M

BIG REGARDS (V Duric) jumped away awkwardly.

ALWAYS A WINNER (B Vorster) jumped inwards at the start slightly inconveniencing BONJOUR BOB (App CK Ng).

Shortly after the start, HAPPY JOY (M Zaki) eased when crowded between MILLION ROUND (I Saifudin), which shifted inwards and NATURAL WATER (TH Koh), which shifted outwards after making contact with BALKAN CHALLENGER (A Munro).

Approaching the 800m, HEE'S EGO (O Placais), which was inclined to lay inwards slightly had to be eased off the heels of HAPPY JOY, which rolled outwards.

Near the 600m, HEE'S EGO again had to be steadied off the heels of HAPPY JOY, which rolled outwards.

Near the 300m, PERFECT CHALLENGER (S John) laid inwards making contact with NATURAL WATER.

Jockey Zaki, the rider of HAPPY JOY, reported that the gelding had returned with its saddle having shifted back during the race.

Jockey Placais, when questioned regarding the run of HEE'S EGO, stated that the gelding showed no early pace despite his urgings. He added that after having to be eased on a couple of occasions rounding the turn, his mount ran on fairly under hard riding over the concluding stages. His explanation was noted. A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on HEE'S EGO which revealed no apparent abnormality.

Jockey Vorster, when questioned regarding the run of ALWAYS A WINNER, stated that after beginning awkwardly, the gelding travelled well in the early and middle stages. However, after being placed under pressure from near the 400m, ALWAYS A WINNER gave ground and was disappointing. His explanation was noted. A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on ALWAYS A WINNER which revealed that the horse returned not striding out freely.
