STIPE'S REPORT

JUPITER GOLD (A Munro) jumped away awkwardly.

ZIP A DEE DOO DAH (S John) was slow to begin.

Approaching the 1200m, TIME ODYSSEY (B Vorster) checked when racing to the inside of LAUGHING GRAVY (D Browne) and NEWLANDS (G Schofield). At a subsequent Inquiry, Jockey Browne pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that approaching the 1200m, he allowed his mount to shift inwards, when insufficiently clear, thereby carrying NEWLANDS in onto TIME ODYSSEY, which checked and lost ground. NOVA STRIKE (D David), which was following, was also inconvenienced in this incident. When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account his record, guilty plea, the degree of interference and carelessness and submissions from Jockey Browne that he has been engaged to ride at the Stradbroke Race Meeting on Saturday, 10 June 2017. The Stewards determined to suspend his licence to ride in races and acting under MRA Rule 48(5), the commencement of the suspension was deferred to begin on Sunday, 11 June 2017 until Friday, 16 June 2017 both dates inclusive (two Singapore Race Days). He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

WAR AFFAIR (D Beasley) was held up and unable to obtain a clear run making the turn into the straight.

Shortly after passing the 200m, TIME ODYSSEY eased when racing between NEWLANDS and NOVA STRIKE, which shifted outwards under pressure. Jockey David was subsequently shown the film of the incident and warned to exercise greater care when shifting ground in future.

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on ZIP A DEE DOO DAH which revealed no apparent abnormality.

Jockey Beasley, when questioned regarding the run of WAR AFFAIR, stated that from an outside barrier, he elected to go back and settled at the rear of the field so as not to be caught wide. He added that the gelding travelled well and after entering the homestraight, he attempted to save ground by taking runs to the inside in between runners. He further added that when he placed WAR AFFAIR under full pressure near the 250m, the gelding responded for a short distance only and then raced flat for the remainder of the event. His explanation was noted. A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on WAR AFFAIR which revealed no apparent abnormality.

Jockey Munro, when questioned regarding the run of JUPITER GOLD, stated that after beginning awkwardly, his mount improved quickly and he was able to settle in a midfield position. He added that JUPITER GOLD travelled well until when placed under pressure near the 350m from which point, the gelding failed to respond to his riding and gave ground over the concluding stages. His explanation was noted. JUPITER GOLD was impounded for routine veterinary and analytical examination. The Veterinary Surgeon reported that the horse returned with an irregular heart rhythm. JUPITER GOLD will be required to pass a 1000m gallop trial and veterinary examination prior to being declared to race again.
