STIPE'S REPORT

CHARLIES MISSILE (R Woodworth) jumped awkwardly inwards and bumped SING ROULETTE (A Munro).

SUGARTIME JAZZ (App M Jailani) jumped awkwardly inwards and bumped COPACABANA (V Duric) in onto LADRONE (M Kellady). LADRONE, VERBAL LINK (App MM Firdaus) and COPACABANA were then all crowded between KNIGHT CHEN BAY (M Nunes) and SUGARTIME JAZZ, which continued to shift inwards.

Near the 900m, MARK ECLIPSE (G Boss) checked when racing to the inside of PERFECT COMMANDO (TH Koh) and LADRONE. An Inquiry into this incident will be held at a date to be fixed.

Approaching the 800m, PERFECT COMMANDO shifted outwards abruptly and crowded WAIPAKIHI (J Powell) out onto KNIGHT CHEN BAY.

VERBAL LINK and COPACABANA both raced wide throughout.

SING ROULETTE was held up and unable to improve from the 600m until near the 300m.

Near the 200m, WAIPAKIHI laid inwards under pressure, resulting in its rider having to stop riding and straighten the gelding.

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on WAIPAKIHI which revealed that the horse returned not striding out freely.

SINGAPORE FEBRUARY MEETING 2017
SUNDAY, 12 FEBRUARY 2017:

RACE 6 [TF0220]

On Friday, 07 April 2017, the Stewards concluded an Inquiry into the reasons for SECONDWAVE (App Z Zuriman) having to check and BEST JADE (App R Zawari) being eased when racing to the inside of BONJOUR BOB (App CK NG) and ACROSS THE SEA (D David) near the 1000m. It was established that near the 1000m, SECONDWAVE lost ground after being crowded by BONJOUR BOB, which in turn shifted inwards and away from the heels of ACROSS THE SEA, which shifted inwards when improving. BEST JADE, which was following, had to be eased in consequence. In the circumstances, no blame could be attributed to any rider and as such, no further action was taken. However, Jockey David was warned and advised that he must exercise greater care when shifting ground in future.

SUNDAY, 02 APRIL 2017:

RACE 09 [TF0442]

There was no evidence to suggest that Jockey Chavez had or attempted to deceive the Clerk of Scales when weighing. However, Jockey Chavez had admitted consuming some fluid after he weighed out for the race and that this may have contributed to him returning overweight. When considering penalty, the Stewards took into account the nature of the charge, guilty plea and his record. The Stewards determined to suspend his licence to ride in races to begin on Monday, 03 April 2017 until Sunday, 16 April 2017 both dates inclusive (three Singapore Race Days). He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
