Approaching the 800m, SOON YI, which commenced to overrace, had to be
eased to avoid the heels of LUCKY MISSION.
HIGH COUNCIL raced wide in the early and middle stages.
SILK ROUTE raced wide from the 600m.
Near the 300m, EURO ZONE (M Kellady) eased off the heels of STAR STRIKE,
which had been carried outwards by RIVER GOLD after that gelding was
taken outwards away from the heels of PERFECT COMMANDO, which rolled
outwards slightly. This resulted in FAST EDITION being taken outwards away
from EURO ZONE and carrying LUCKY MISSION out onto SOON YI, which
HEAVENLY HAND laid outwards under pressure over the final 100m, and near
the 50m, carried RIVER GOLD wider on the track.
A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on LUCKY MISSION
which revealed no apparent abnormality.
Jockey G Mosse reported that the saddle on MISS WAIMATAITAI shifted back
on jumping, placing him at a severe disadvantage for the remainder of the
event. A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on MISS
WAIMATAITAI which revealed that the mare returned not striding out freely.
