LIMS BULLET (App Y Salim), which was slow into stride, was bumped by
RUSTY BROWN (N Juglall) shortly after the start. Shortly after this incident,
RUSTY BROWN had to be eased off the heels of EURO ZONE (App H Syafiq),
which shifted inwards.
THANKFULNESS (M Nunes) jumped awkwardly inwards and bumped
MONTAIGNE (J Powell).
RICH FORTUNE (A Munro) showed no early pace despite the urgings of its
Near the 800m, PHIDIAS (R Woodworth) had to be eased after becoming
awkwardly placed on the heels of THANKFULNESS.
Approaching the 700m, Jockey Juglall, the rider of RUSTY BROWN, was
dislodged. An Inquiry into this incident will be held at a date to be fixed.
As a result of this incident, PHIDIAS was severely hampered and lost
considerable ground. RICH FORTUNE, which was following, was also severely
hampered and lost ground.
Jockey Munro, when questioned regarding the performance of RICH
FORTUNE, reported that the gelding could not muster enough pace early to
make contact with the main body of the field. He further stated that when
RUSTY BROWN fell, he was carried wider by the riderless RUSTY BROWN and
RICH FORTUNE thereafter took no competitive part in the race. His
explanation was noted. A subsequent veterinary examination was requested
on RICH FORTUNE which revealed no apparent abnormality. RICH FORTUNE
will be required to pass a 1000m gallop trial and veterinary examination prior
to being declared to race again.
Jockey D David, when questioned regarding the performance of MISS
WAIMATAITAI, stated that the mare was restless in the barrier and may have
struck herself. He further stated that MISS WAIMATAITAI lost its off-fore
plate shortly after the start and in his opinion, these two incidents had an
impact on the way the mare finished the race off today. His explanation was
noted. A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on MISS
WAIMATAITAI which revealed no apparent abnormality.
