App S Zulfikri, the rider of CHAMPAGNE ROSE, was fined RM100/- for negligence
under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for failing to utilize his claim fully.
Upon jumping, LORD OF SHANGHAI (SS Vanan) shifted outwards and inconvenienced
DELTA WING (J Low).
LIMS CHARGE (App A Zaimuddin) had a tendency to over-race throughout the event
and got its head up.
CHAMPAGNE ROSE raced wide throughout the event.
Approaching the 450M, LIMS CHARGE had to be eased by its rider when DELTA
WING (J Low) shifted out to obtain a clear run, had to shift inwards in the home straight
and ran home well.
Jockey SS Vanan, the rider of LORD OF SHANGHAI, reported that his horse did not
handle the going.
The Stewards questioned App A Zaimuddin, the rider of LIMS CHARGE, and App S
Zulfikri, the rider of CHAMPAGNE ROSE, in the presence of his Master, Trainer PS
Kumaran into the reasons why LIMS CHARGE clipped heels and appeared to check at
approximately the 1000M.
At the conclusion of an inquiry, App S Zulfikri, the rider of CHAMPAGNE ROSE, in the
presence of his Master, Trainer PS Kumaran, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding
under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding CHAMPAGNE ROSE in this race, he
allowed his horse to shift in when insufficiently clear of LIMS CHARGE resulting in
LIMS CHARGE having to clipped the heels of his horse and blundered.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App S Zulfikris guilty plea,
mitigating factors, previous excellent riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was
suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days with effect
from 5 December 2016 and to expire on 17 December 2016, both dates inclusive. He was
advised of his Right of Appeal (2:05pm).
