RACE 6 (R729) BENCHMARK 44-71 1600M (SHORT COURSE A)
The Stewards questioned Trainer P Fell into the riding tactics that will be adopted on
UNME (App M Hanif) in todays event in particular why he made a gear change to remove
Blinkers as the mare had previously ran and shown a very good form with Blinkers on.
Trainer P Fell explained that he has changed his training regime where he has no longer
galloped this horse and attempt to keep it fresh. Trainer P Fell further stated that he
believed by removing the Blinkers from UNME may settle the mare in its races as in its
previous starts, it had over-raced and also UNME was up-in-class. The Stewards noted his
comments for future reference.
Upon jumping, SEA WORLD (J Low) jumped inwards, inconveniencing UNME.
SEA QUEEN (J De Souza) stood flat-footed and refused to jump despite the efforts of its
rider. The mare will be required to pass a 1000M/Vet (from the starting stall) test before
being declared to race again.
NINE POINT (App A Farezul) and SEA WORLD both raced wide throughout the event.
Over the concluding stages, FLIGHT OF THE SAKER (S Ruzaini) shifted out and
An objection was lodged by App KC Wong, the rider of THE OMEGA MAN, placed
second, against GHOST EMPEROR (Y Aify) being declared the winner, on the grounds of
alleged interference at about the 350M and 150M. After considering the evidence, the
Racing Stewards were of the opinion that the alleged interference had not affected the
result of the race. The objection was overruled and the result stood.
At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey Y Aify, the rider of GHOST EMPEROR, pleaded
guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding
GHOST EMPEROR in this race, he allowed his horse to shift in when insufficiently clear
of SEGAR THE BEST (C Goon) resulting in that horse having to be checked.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey Y Aifys guilty plea,
mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. Acting on the
provisions of MRA Rule 48(5), the Stewards deferred the commencement of Jockey Y
Aifys suspension. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2)
Malaysian race days with effect from 13 June 2016 and to expire on 19 June 2016, both
dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal (5pm).
The Stewards questioned Trainer Anna Scott and Jockey SS Vanan as to the disappointing
performance of JUSTICE WORLD. Jockey SS Vanan stated that the gelding was not
comfortable at any stage throughout the event and he placed it under pressure leaving the
600M, however, it failed to respond to his riding to finish 24 ½ lengths at the rear of the
Trainer A Scott stated that JUSTICE WORLD had worked extremely well throughout the
week and expected a forward showing, and the gelding was well supported by the stable
and she could not offer any reason for the disappointing performance.
The Stewards noted their comments for future reference. A post-race veterinary
examination of JUSTICE WORLD revealed no significant finding. The gelding which was
beaten 24 ½ lengths, will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to
race again for having a poor performance and was impounded.
