Shortly after the start at about the 1500M, ZHAN SHEN (WK Yan) which was racing at
the rear of the field, checked and lost ground when bumped inwards onto the hind
quarters of WINNING LINE (App CT Lee) as a result of MALS DAD shifting inwards.
App M Hanif was subsequently shown the video replay and warned to take more care
when shifting ground in future.
MALS DAD was trapped four wide on the turn at the 800M.
The Veterinary Surgeon reported that YOUSINGWEDANCE returned lame off fore and
as such will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.
Post-race veterinary examinations of ZHAN SHEN and GOOD GIFT (App S Shafrizal)
revealed no obvious abnormality.
A post-race veterinary examination of ALEX FIVE O (M Zairi) revealed that the horse
returned cut into, off fore.
App KC Wong, the rider of HORIZON LAD, reported that his mount was not striding out
freely. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality.
Trainer P Pereira, when questioned regarding the apparent improved performance of BIG
EGO (App T Krisna), advised the Panel that the gelding had returned to form after a
disappointing run in Ipoh on 12th December 2015. On that occasion, Jockey M Wepner
reported that BIG EGO was not striding out freely in the Soft going and he eased the
gelding down from approximately the 200M mark. Trainer P Pereira further advised that
since that run, he had rested BIG EGO and the horse had improved in the Good going.
His explanation was noted and his attention was drawn to the rules regarding in-and-
out running (MRA Rule 117(3)). He was advised that should BIG EGO prove to be
inconsistent in the future, the horse may be suspended.
