Due to a delay in the start time of Race 7, this race was put back five
minutes and rescheduled to start at 2155Hrs.
Prior to the running of Race 8, Trainer S Burridge advised the Stewards that
his instructions to Jockey V Duric, the rider of ROSEGOLD, if circumstances
permit, to ride from a wide barrier in an attempt to get the gelding to run on
in the straight.
GENERAL CONATUS (App R Zawari), which reared and became cast in the
barrier, was taken out and examined by the Veterinary Surgeon. Acting on
veterinary advice, the Panel of Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 2158Hrs.
GENERAL CONATUS will be required to pass one starting stall test and a
veterinary examination prior to being declared to race again in terms of MRA
SING EXPRESS (K AIsisuhairi) was slow to begin.
PERFECT CHALLENGER (App WS Chan) dipped shortly after the start and
shifted outwards abruptly inconveniencing SIMPANG (S Sam).
Approximately 50m after the start, PERFECT CHALLENGER was bumped when
SCIMITAR (M Kellady) was carried inwards by BIG BANKER (O Placais), which
was in turn carried inwards when racing to the inside of MASURAO (D David),
which shifted inwards.
Near the 1500m, SCIMITAR eased off the heels of BIG BANKER.
Near the 1300m, PERFECT CHALLENGER had to be eased outwards to avoid
the heels of ROSEGOLD, which shifted inwards. SIMPANG, which was
following, also had to be eased to avoid the heels of PERFECT CHALLENGER.
Near the 1200m, MASURAO brushed the running rail on a couple of
TIGER BAY (App I Amirul), SING EXPRESS and SCIMITAR all raced wide
Near the 900m, GREAT BALLS OFFIRE (App Y Salim) dipped and had to be
eased after improving onto the heels of MASURAO.
BIG BANKER and ROSEGOLD were both held up and unable to improve from
the 600m to approaching the 400m.
Near the 400m, SUN DANCE (App Z Zuriman) was momentarily tightened for
room between TIGER BAY and MASURAO, which shifted outwards.
ROSEGOLD was again held up and unable to improve from the 300m until
approaching the 200m.
MASURAO laid outwards under pressure over the final 300m.
A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on PERFECT
CHALLENGER which revealed that the horse returned as a roarer and lame
off-fore. The Veterinary Surgeon also advised that PERFECT CHALLENGER
had previously undergone corrective surgery for this condition. PERFECT
CHALLENGER, which returned lame off-fore, will be required to pass a 1000m
gallop trial and veterinary examination prior to being declared to race again.
A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on SCIMITAR which
revealed no apparent abnormality.
