STIPE'S REPORT
RACE 9 [TF1319]
SAAS FEE STAKES SC (C) 1400M
SPORE-G3

Due to the abandonment of the Penang Race Meeting, this race was put back
five minutes and rescheduled to start at 1655Hrs.

Permission was granted for Jockey D David to replace Jockey V Duric on
ALIBI as the latter was unable to make the weight. Jockey Duric was
subsequently fined a sum of S$200 in terms of MRA Rule 107(9).

Prior to the start, GOLD RUTILE (A Munro) was examined by the Veterinary
Surgeon and passed fit to race.

BLUE SWEDE (M Kellady) was slow to begin.

BEST TOTHELIGN (J Powell) and GOOD NEWS (R Woodworth) bumped on
jumping.

KIRKS RYKER (B Vorster) jumped awkwardly outwards and bumped GOLD
RUTILE.

Near the 900m, ALIBI shifted inwards and bumped NOVA STRIKE (M Nunes),
which shifted outwards slightly when being eased off the heels of SPANISH
BAY (N Juglall). At the same time, KIRKS RYKER which was racing keenly,
made slight contact with BORN TO FLY (D Beasley).

TWICKENHAM (M Rodd) and SLEW OF LODE raced wide throughout.

After passing the 800m, BORN TO FLY had to be steadied when momentarily
crowded by KIRKS RYKER, which shifted in and away from MAGNUM (CW
Brown), which shifted inwards slightly.

Approaching the 200m, TWICKENHAM was bumped by BEST TOTHELIGN,
which shifted out and away from NOVA STRIKE, when that gelding improved
to its inside. Shortly thereafter, DANIEL (G Boss) shifted inwards and
bumped CAVALLO (S John).

Near the 50m, TWICKENHAM which was giving ground, eased when racing in
restricted room between CAVALLO and BEST TOTHELIGN.

An Objection was lodged by Jockey David, the rider of second placegetter,
ALIBI, against SPANISH BAY, being the first placegetter, on the grounds of
interference near the 100m and the 25m. After considering all of the
evidence and after deliberation, the Race Meeting Stewards were of the
opinion that the alleged interference had not affected the result of the race
and the Objection was overruled. The result stood.

It was established that approaching the 100m, SPANISH BAY commenced to
shift outwards and ALIBI, commenced to shift inwards. After passing the
100m, ALIBI shifted out and away from SPANISH BAY after being taken out
slightly by that gelding, and, approaching the Winning Post, ALIBI shifted out
and away from SPANISH BAY, when that gelding shifted out towards that
gelding.

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on GOLD RUTILE (A
Munro) which revealed no apparent abnormality. GOLD RUTILE, which raced
poorly, will be required to pass a 1000m gallop trial and veterinary
examination prior to being declared to race again.

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on SLEW OF LODE (O
Placais) which revealed no apparent abnormality. SLEW OF LODE, which
raced poorly, will be required to pass a 1000m gallop trial and veterinary
examination prior to being declared to race again.
