HONGCHEN (App Z Zuriman) jumped awkwardly inwards and made contact
with KING OPERA (A Munro), which had begun awkwardly. KING OPERA was
then bumped on two occasions by HONGCHEN, which continued to shift
inwards after the start.
Shortly after the start, GOLDEN MISSION (O Placais) eased when
momentarily crowded between BATTLE OF TROY (App CC Wong) and
MASTER DRAGON (M Zaki), which shifted inwards.
Approaching the 700m, SOON YI (I Saifudin) eased when crowded for room
by BEST JADE (A Da Silva), which shifted inwards and away from MR
WHITAKER (G Boss).
For the majority of the homestraight, ELITE STAR (App H Syafiq) laid
outwards under pressure, resulting in its rider having to stop riding and
straighten the gelding on a number of occasions.
HONGCHEN, MASTER DRAGON and KING OPERA all raced wide throughout.
BATTLE OF TROY had difficulty obtaining clear running between the 400m
until approaching the 150m.
Jockey David reported that LIVELY DRAGON was making respiratory noises.
A subsequent veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormality.

App Wong, when questioned regarding the run of BATTLE OF TROY, stated
that after jumping reasonably, the gelding seemed to have an extravagant
action in the early stages, resulting in it settling off the pace. In addition, he
stated that in his opinion, BATTLE OF TROY appeared to resent the kickback,
thereby losing further ground in the middle stages. He further stated that
after entering the straight, he attempted to come to the outside to obtain
clear running but was unable to do so. As such, he then had to switch back
to the inside to get clear running and BATTLE OF TROY ran on well when
placed under pressure. App Wong also stated that it was the geldings first
start under lights and on an all weather track which may have contributed to
its extravagant action in the early and middle stages. His explanation was
