Trainer M Walker was fined a sum of S$500 for failing to ensure that
SHAQRAA (R Shafiq) was in the Pre-Race Holding Area within the prescribed
time in terms of MRA Rule 109(1).
App R Azhar, the rider of SATELLITE GENIUS, was fined a sum of S$200 for
negligence in terms of MRA Rule 152(5)(a) in that he failed to claim and ride
at his declared riding weight.
Acting on veterinary advice that SATELLITE GENIUS was found to have
sustained a cut on its off-hind leg, the Panel of Stewards ordered its
withdrawal at 1820Hrs. In terms of MRA Regulation 24.2, it must be
presented to an Official Veterinary Surgeon prior to being declared to race
THUNDER CAT, (App T See) which jumped awkwardly inwards, bumped the
hindquarters of SHAQRAA.
GADAWON (J Powell) and NOVA VICTORY (M Nunes) bumped on jumping.
Shortly after the start, NOVA VICTORY steadied when crowded between
LEADERSHIP (A Munro) and GADAWON, which shifted inwards.
Near the 1000m, SHAQRAA and JUST NAME IT (App WS Chan) were both
crowded to the inside of LEADERSHIP, which shifted inwards. Shortly
thereafter, LEADERSHIP, JUST NAME IT and SHAQRAA all shifted outwards
slightly resulting in LEADERSHIP having to be eased off the heels of ROCK OF
AGES (B Vorster), which shifted inwards.
After passing the 900m, SHAQRAA lost ground after being bumped by JUST
NAME IT, which rolled inwards.
Approaching the 800m, MISS BLANCHETT (M Rodd) steadied to avoid the
heels of GADAWON, which shifted inwards.
Near the 700m, LEADERSHIP was buffeted between JUST NAME IT and MY
REACH (I Azhar), which rolled inwards slightly.
MY REACH and HAPPY SAGA (D Beasley) both raced wide throughout.
Approaching the 500m, THUNDER CAT laid outwards and carried HAPPY
SAGA wider on the track.
After passing the 400m, LEADERSHIP eased to avoid the heels of JUST NAME
IT, which shifted outwards when improving.
Near the 350m, NOVA VICTORY eased when crowded for racing room
between MY REACH and THUNDER CAT, which shifted inwards.
The Veterinary Surgeon reported that the saddle on SATELLITE PRINCE (N
Juglall) slipped back during the race.
A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on ROCK OF AGES (B
Vorster) which revealed that the horse returned having bled. In terms of
MRA Rule 92(3), it will not be permitted to canter or gallop on the main
training tracks of any racecourse for a period of two months, and may not
start in any race for a period of three months, and then only after having
satisfactorily passed a bleeders test.
