Trainer Frank Maynard was fined RM500/- for scratching BNEVAGIVUP without an
official veterinary certificate as required under Clause (h) of the PRTC Official
MISTER JAGGER which was down 16kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked
by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.
TIDAL WAVE (S Salee) became restless in the barrier and kicked out resulting in its
hind leg being over the back gate when the start was effected. TIDAL WAVE became
unbalanced and slipped on jumping and was slowly away. TIDAL WAVE will be
required to pass one starting stall test before being declared to race again.
PISCES GEM (J De Souza) and POWER WIND (App P Mogun) were slow into stride.
In the early and middle stages, CUTTING TORCH (App KC Wong) raced greenly.
TIDAL WAVE hung out at the home turn.
At about 250M, POWER WIND shifted in considerably whilst under pressure and after
winning, App P Mogun was warned that he is to stop and straighten his mount more
quickly in future and was also warned against his exaggerated celebratory gesture after
the winning post and a repetition may lead to action being taken in future.
On pulling-up, App M Rashpassing, the rider of UNDERCOVER MISSION was
dislodged when the gelding stumbled at the crossing.
Post-race veterinary examinations of HALO IMAGE (App M Hanif), AFTER ME (CK
Tan), CAMRY (App AK Lim), PISCES GEM and PROHIBITION (HS Gill) revealed no
A post-race veterinary examination of TIDAL WAVE revealed that the gelding returned
with epiglottic entrapment and a cut to its right hock. TIDAL WAVE will be required to
undergo corrective surgery and thereafter pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared
to race again.
When questioned regarding the tactics used in the early stages of the race regarding
PISCES JET, Trainer S Cook stated that he instructed App SU Lim to get a good jump,
sit midfield or three quarters of the field back and do his best in the straight to win or run
a place. App SU Lim confirmed the instructions. He stated after obtaining a good jump
he traveled in a midfield position in the early stages. The Stewards were concerned with
his efforts to maintain his position. He was warned and severely reprimanded for his lack
of initiative to maintain his favourable position. App SU Lim was given the benefit of
the doubt on this occasion, but was told that a repetition of this nature, may lead to action
being taken against him in future.
