STIPE'S REPORT
RACE 9 [TF1508]
CLASS 4 1200M
DIVISION 1

JOHN OF ARCH (App TR Barnabas) was restless in the barriers. Trainer D Hill was advised that a warning has been placed on JOHN OF ARCH regarding its barrier manners and to take steps to improve them or action may be taken in future.

CHILLI (B Vorster) was restless in the barriers. Trainer D Baertschiger was advised that a warning has been placed on CHILLI regarding its barrier manners and to take steps to improve them or action may be taken in future.

Shortly after the start, EXOTIC ROI (Din Azis) was hampered when JOHN OF ARCH shifted inwards after being bumped by FARRAND (J Moreira).

Passing the 1100m, LUCKY JESTER (R Fradd) momentarily steadied away from the heels of DARING JOURNEY (J Powell), which shifted inwards.

Passing the 1000m, LUCKY JESTER was hampered when CHILLI shifted outwards and FARRAND rolled inwards.

SOUTH STAR (R Stewart) and SKELETON KEY (R Woodworth) were both obliged to race wide without cover throughout.

In the early part of the straight, CHILLI had difficulty obtaining a clear run.

After the 400m, FARRAND, which was laying inwards, was accidentally struck with the whip by Jockey Stewart, the rider of SOUTH STAR. FARRAND continued to lay inwards in the straight.

Jockey Fradd, when questioned regarding the disappointing performance of LUCKY JESTER, stated that his instructions were to race in a forward position if possible but after receiving minor crowding near the 1100m and again approaching the 1000m, he found himself racing further back than anticipated. He added that when crossed by runners, his mount was difficult to settle and when placed under pressure near the 600m, it failed to run on. His explanation was noted. LUCKY JESTER was impounded for routine veterinary and analytical examination. The Veterinary Surgeon reported no apparent abnormality.

RACE 5 [TF1473]

At the conclusion of an Inquiry on Thursday, 03 December 2009, App JL Li, the rider of GATE CRASHER, in the presence of his Master, Trainer D Koh, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding GATE CRASHER in the fifth race at the Singapore Turf Club Meeting on Saturday, 28 November 2009, near the 900m, he did permit his mount to shift inwards, when insufficiently clear of WONDER GENERAL (Alan Ng) and SAMURAI POWER (S John), which were both severely crowded and checked. When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account his clean record, guilty plea and the degree of interference and carelessness.  App Li was suspended from riding in races with effect from Saturday, 12 December 2009 until Saturday, 26 December 2009 both dates inclusive (five Race Days) and was advised of his Right of Appeal.
