Jockey Chavez, the rider of MEXBOROUGH BOY, when questioned regarding
racing in a more forward position than at its previous start, stated that he had
ridden the gelding for the first time at its previous start and that after jumping
from the inside barrier, MEXBOROUGH BOY was reluctant to stride out early,
and thereafter appeared to resent the kickback and was not comfortable
racing inside of other runners. As such, today, with the weather conditions,
he had anticipated more kickback and therefore he rode his mount
aggressively on jumping, thereby racing in a more forward position. He
further stated that being mindful that the horse may resent kickback when
crossed by two other runners, he elected to come to their outside and raced in
the clear in a three wide position. His explanation was noted.
