RACE 6 [TF0881]
INITIATION POLYTRACK 1000M
ASTAIRE (I Saifudin), which was fractious and kicked out whilst in the
barrier, was taken out and examined by the Veterinary Surgeon. Acting on
veterinary advice that ASTAIRE was found to be bleeding from its off-hind,
the Panel of Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 1528Hrs. ASTAIRE will be
required to pass one starting stall test and a veterinary examination prior to
being declared to race again in terms of MRA Rule 78(2).
After arriving at the barrier, ANAK PENANG (N Juglall) had its saddle
SPECIAL ID (O Chavez) jumped away awkwardly and made contact with the
hindquarters of BILBO BAGGINS (B Parnham).
Approaching the 900m, SPECIAL ID had to be steadied off the heels of LIMS
SINCERE (App H Syafiq), which shifted inwards. Thereafter, SPECIAL ID
commenced to race keenly and lost ground passing the 800m when racing
tight between BILBO BAGGINS and CERTAINLY (CW Brown), which rolled
SATCHMO (A Munro) and MY REACH (TH Koh) both raced wide throughout.
SPECIAL ID was held up and unable to improve from the 600m when held up
on the heels of ANAK PENANG.
Approaching the turn into the straight, ANAK PENANG checked when racing
to the inside of BILBO BAGGINS, CERTAINLY and SATCHMO. SPECIAL ID,
which was following, was inconvenienced and had to be checked outwards
making heavy contact with MISS ELYSIUM (App R Rueven). An Inquiry into
this incident will be held at a date to be fixed.
Passing the 450m, SPECIAL ID and MISS ELYSIUM again made contact.
SPECIAL ID was inclined to lay inwards over the final 200m.
Jockey Chavez stated that after beginning awkwardly, he attempted to race
just off the pace. However, he had to ease shortly after the start off LIMS
SINCERE, which shifted inwards. Thereafter, he lost his position passing the
800m when racing tight and crowded between runners. He was then unable
to improve his position when held up on the heels of ANAK PENANG from the
600m and whilst attempting to improve to the outside of that gelding making
the turn into the straight, was inconvenienced when ANAK PENANG checked,
resulting in him having to check SPECIAL ID outwards and making heavy
contact with MISS ELYSIUM. This resulted in his mount becoming
unbalanced. He again bumped with MISS ELYSIUM shortly after, and his
mount ran on fairly when placed under pressure despite laying inwards in the
straight. His explanation was noted. A subsequent veterinary examination
was requested on SPECIAL ID which revealed no apparent abnormality.
