STIPE'S REPORT
RACE 3 [TF0196]
OPEN BENCHMARK 67 LC (B) 1600M

KNIGHT SPIRIT (TH Koh) was slow to begin.

FELAROF (App K AIsisuhairi) began awkwardly.

HIGH TROJA (D Flores) jumped awkwardly outwards and made very heavy
contact with CANNON HILL (B Vorster), resulting in both horses becoming
unbalanced.

KNIGHT SPIRIT raced wide from the 900m.

Near the 700m, KAI POWER (E Aslam) and KNIGHT SPIRIT made contact
when KAI POWER attempted to take a run when there was insufficient room
between KNIGHT SPIRIT and CANNON HILL which shifted outwards after
becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of MESHMAKER (C Newitt).

Shortly thereafter, KAI POWER and KNIGHT SPIRIT bumped on a number of
occasions, resulting in KAI POWER having to be eased off the heels of
CANNON HILL.

Near the 300m, HIGH TROJA eased when crowded for racing room between
POLE PARADISE (App T See), which shifted outwards slightly and FELAROF,
which shifted inwards under pressure.

The Farrier reported that KNIGHT SPIRIT and POLE PARADISE returned
having cast their near-fore plate and off-fore plate respectively.

Jockey CW Brown, when questioned stated that after beginning well, the
gelding took up a forward position. However, as he was caught wide, he
decided to improve to the outside of the leader in an effort to get a position
closer to the rail. He added that MY BROTHERS KEEPER travelled well until
placed under pressure approaching the 300m from which point the gelding
failed to respond to his riding and was disappointing over the concluding
stages. His explanation was noted. A subsequent veterinary examination
was requested on MY BROTHERS KEEPER which revealed that the horse
returned as a roarer. The Veterinary Surgeon also advised that MY
BROTHERS KEEPER had previously undergone corrective surgery for this
condition.
