RACE 5 [TF991]
CLASS 4 1000M

FAITHFULLY (O Chavez), which had been restless in the barrier, was slow
into stride.

GOOD NEWS (YF Leong) jumped awkwardly inwards and bumped FLAMING
FIREHEART (M Zaki) in onto WINDSOR KNOT (I Saifudin), which became

TIM (App R Rueven) jumped inwards at the start carrying CODIGO (CW
Brown) onto IMACRUISER (App R Shafiq).

GOOD NEWS raced wide throughout.

Approaching the 400m, IMACRUISER was momentarily held up on the heels

Approaching the Winning Post, FAITHFULLY steadied when crowded by BLUE
DIAMOND (D Beasley), which was taken inwards by TIM.

An Objection was lodged by App K AIsisuhairi, the rider of second
placegetter, CHEYENNE WARRIOR, against GOOD NEWS, being declared the
winner, on the grounds of interference over the final 50m. After considering
all of the evidence and after deliberation, the Panel of Stewards were of the
opinion that the alleged interference had not affected the result of the race
and the Objection was overruled. The result stood.

It was established that approaching the Winning Post, GOOD NEWS shifted
inwards under pressure and made contact with CHEYENNE WARRIOR on two

Jockey Brown reported that CODIGO was not striding out freely. A
subsequent veterinary examination confirmed this.

Jockey Chavez, when questioned regarding the run of FAITHFULLY, stated
that after being fractious in the barrier and slow away, the gelding never
travelled comfortably and was under pressure throughout. His explanation
was noted. FAITHFULLY was impounded for routine veterinary and analytical
examination. The Veterinary Surgeon reported no apparent abnormality.

Trainer HK Tan, when questioned regarding the apparent improved
performance of GOOD NEWS, stated that the gelding resents the kickback
from the poly surface and having drawn a wide barrier, instructed the rider to
remain to the outside to avoid the kickback. He further added that with the
addition of Blinkers tonight, he was confident of a forward showing. His
explanation was noted.
