RACE 7 [TF860]
KRANJI STAKES A LC (C) 1400M

Due to a delay in the start time of Race 6, this race was put back five minutes
and rescheduled to start at 2125Hrs.

As there was no similar claiming rider available, the Stewards gave
permission for App R Shafiq to replace App R Rueven on BORN TO FLY.

WHAT NOW (I Santana) began awkwardly.

Passing the 1300m, GOLD RUTILE (A Munro) steadied off the heels of SLEW
OF LODE (B Vorster). Shortly thereafter, GOLIATH (CW Brown), which was
racing keenly, shifted inwards and had to be eased off the heels of SPEEDY
CAT (M Nunes).

RAFAGA (I Saifudin) and BORN TO FLY both raced wide throughout.

SPEEDY CAT was held up for clear running from the 600m until approaching
the 300m.

Over the concluding stages, SPEEDY CAT and GOLD RUTILE both shifted
ground under pressure.

Jockey D Beasley, when questioned regarding the performance of EL
PADRINO, stated that whilst the gelding settled further back in the field than
he anticipated, the horse travelled comfortably in this position. He added that
on entering the homestraight, he brought EL PADRINO to the outside where
placed under pressure, the gelding responded only fairly and in his opinion,
was disappointing in the run to the line. His explanation was noted. A
subsequent veterinary examination was requested on EL PADRINO which
revealed no apparent abnormality.
