STIPE'S REPORT
RACE 9 [TF92]
CLASS 4 SC (A) 1400m

BLACK FRIDAY (A Munro), which was slow to begin, was crowded on jumping
away between GRAND WOOD PARK (App K AIsisuhairi) and COLLECT THE
CASH (V Leal), which shifted inwards.

EISENHEIM (M Nunes), which was slow to begin, shifted outwards and made
contact with TWO M AND M (B Vorster). EISENHEIM was then hampered
when tightened between TWO M AND M and SAVAGE STORM (O Chavez),
which shifted outwards.

EISENHEIM proved difficult to settle in the early stages and near the 800m,
had to be momentarily steadied off the heels of SAVAGE STORM, which
shifted inwards.

ANODOUBT (M Kellady) and SAVAGE STORM both raced wide throughout.

HUMOR TOWN (S John) had difficulty obtaining a clear run between the
400m and the 200m.

Near the 100m, CHRISTMAS (I Andy) raced in restricted room to the inside
of BLACK FRIDAY, which shifted inwards and away from RAJAH BROOK (App
T Rehaizat). As a result, CHRISTMAS made contact with the running rail and
became unbalanced for several strides.

App AIsisuhairi reported that GRAND WOOD PARK was not striding out
freely. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed that the horse
exhibited signs of respiratory distress after the race. GRAND WOOD PARK
will be required to pass a 1000m gallop trial and veterinary examination prior
to being declared to race again.

Jockey Chavez, when questioned regarding the run of SAVAGE STORM,
stated that after discussions with the Trainer, they elected to attempt to ride
the gelding off the pace. Jockey Chavez further stated that after the start,
he attempted to ease SAVAGE STORM in order to obtain a position as
instructed. However, the gelding was difficult to settle and threw its head
about on a number of occasions. Thereafter, he was caught wide in the early
stages and when attempting to find cover, he found himself settling in a
position further back than expected. He further stated that when placed
under pressure, SAVAGE STORM had run on fairly in the straight. His
explanation was noted.

SINGAPORE JANUARY MEETING 2014
WEDNESDAY, 01 JANUARY 2014:

RACE 10 [TF10]

Stewards concluded an Inquiry on Wednesday, 15 January 2014 regarding
the run of GAZOO. Evidence was taken from the Owners, Trainer L Dragon
and Jockey I Santana. Trainer Dragon stated that the instructions given
were to try and settle in a forward position. She was of the opinion that on
pace runners were advantaged on that day. Jockey Santana stated that he
understood that Trainer Dragon had instructed him to settle GAZOO in a
midfield position. He added that after beginning well, his mount settled just
behind the leaders. However, he had to check his mount when crowded near
the 1200m and again near the 1000m. As a result of these incidents,
GAZOO was positioned further back than he had anticipated. He further
added that in the straight, he was able to gain clear running after shifting
wider on the track. However, the gelding failed to run on as well as he had
expected over the concluding stages.

It was established during the Inquiry that Jockey Santana, due to
miscommunication, had understood that Trainer Dragon had instructed him
to settle GAZOO in a midfield position in the early stages, when in fact,
Trainer Dragon had instructed him to ride in a forward position.

Trainer Dragon advised that when Jockey Santana is riding for her in the
future, steps will be taken to ensure that instructions are conveyed and
understood clearly.

In taking all the evidence into account, the Stewards were of the opinion that
there was insufficient evidence to warrant any charges.

SINGAPORE JANUARY MEETING 2014
FRIDAY, 03 JANUARY 2014:

RACE 5 [TF16]

On Wednesday, 15 January 2014, the Stewards concluded an Inquiry into a
report from the Clerk of Scales that Jockey T Affandi, the rider of ROYAL
STYLE, returned to scale 1.0kg over the declared weight that he weighed out
for the above race. Jockey Affandi pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA
Rule 121(7) in that after riding ROYAL STYLE in Race 5 at the Singapore Turf
Club Meeting on Friday, 03 January 2014, he returned to scale 1.0kg in
excess of the declared weight that he weighed out for the race. There was
no evidence to suggest that Jockey Affandi had or attempted to deceive the
Clerk of Scales when weighing. However, Jockey Affandi had admitted
consuming fluids after he weighed out for the race and that this may have
contributed to him returning overweight. When considering penalty, the
Stewards took into account the nature of the charge, his record and guilty
plea. Jockey Affandi was suspended from riding in races with effect from
Saturday, 18 January 2014 to Friday, 24 January 2014 both dates inclusive
(three Race Days). He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

RACE 8 [TF19]

On Wednesday, 15 January 2014, the Stewards concluded an Inquiry into the
reasons for Jockey E Aslam being dislodged from TOMORROWS DREAMS
approaching the 400m. It was established that approaching the 400m
TOMORROWS DREAMS and HOOPER (App LQ Kek) made contact and raced
tightly when attempting to improve their respective positions where there
was insufficient room between DAWN PROSPECT (App S Noh) and
PALOMBARO (App Z Zuriman), which was tiring. Near the 400m, HOOPER,
when being ridden along, bumped TOMORROWS DREAMS when taken
outwards by DAWN PROSPECT. As a result, TOMORROWS DREAMS became
awkwardly placed on the heels of PALOMBARO, which continued to tire and
shifted inwards slightly. TOMORROWS DREAMS then clipped the heels of
PALOMBARO, resulting in Jockey Aslam being dislodged. In the
circumstances, no blame could be attributed to any rider and as such, no
further action was taken.

RACE 9 [TF20]

On Wednesday, 15 January 2014, the Stewards concluded an Inquiry into a
report from the Clerk of Scales that App Z Zuriman, the rider of CARNIVAL
STAR, returned to scale 1.0kg over the declared weight that he weighed out
for the above race. App Zuriman, in the presence of his Master, Trainer B
Marsh, pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 121(7) in that after riding
CARNIVAL STAR in Race 9 at the Singapore Turf Club Meeting on Friday, 03
January 2014, he returned to scale 1.0kg in excess of the declared weight
that he weighed out for the race. There was no evidence to suggest that App
Zuriman had or attempted to deceive the Clerk of Scales when weighing.
However, App Zuriman had admitted consuming fluids after he weighed out
for the race and that this may have contributed to him returning overweight.
When considering penalty, the Stewards took into account the nature of the
charge, his record and guilty plea. App Zuriman was suspended from riding
in races with effect from Saturday, 18 January 2014 to Friday, 24 January
2014 both dates inclusive (three Race Days). He was advised of his Right of
Appeal.

SINGAPORE JANUARY MEETING 2014
SUNDAY, 05 JANUARY 2014:

RACE 10 [TF30]

On Wednesday, 15 January 2014, Jockey D Flores, when questioned
regarding his riding of SUPERB SUCCESS, explained that he was instructed
by Mr B Marsh, Trainer of SUPERB EXPRESS to ride the gelding in a handy
position early and to improve from the home turn onwards. Trainer Marsh
confirmed the instructions. Jockey Flores stated that after beginning well, he
allowed SUPERB SUCCESS to settle midfield relatively close to the leaders,
where the gelding travelled well and felt comfortable ,and, remained in that
position before improving to travel closer to the leaders approaching the
600m. He added that he commenced to ride SUPERB SUCCESS along around
the hometurn, adding that when improving near the 300m, he had to steady
his mount for a number of strides when the gap ahead between SPYDER
(App K AIsisuhairi) and MULAN (A Munro) closed due to both horses shifting
ground. As a result, his mount lost ground and momentum. Jockey Flores
further added that after recovering from the interference, he rode quietly
from near the 250m until passing the 100m as he believed that if he
improved between SPYDER and SKY EMPATHY (I Saifudin), where there was
clear running, he would have improved up onto the heels of MULAN, which
was directly ahead of his mount, and was struggling under hard riding,
resulting in SUPERB SUCCESS again being blocked for clear running. Jockey
Flores then added that after passing the 100m, the run ahead of his mount
opened and was then able to ride vigourously over the concluding stages,
whereupon SUPERB SUCCESS ran on strongly to the finish. His explanation
was noted.
