Racing to the 1000M, PAGSANJAN (J Shankar) shifted n resulting in LAZAROO (L
Sofhan) being checked and shifted in, bumping PRAIRIE PRIDE (R Lim) and as a result
LAZAROO shifted out and bumped ALI BABA (App KM Lai) and then shifted out and
bumped AMAZING GRACE (J Low) which became unbalanced.
Jockey J Low, the rider of AMAZING GRACE, reported that he lost the use of his off
side stirrup iron at about the 1000M.
At the conclusion of an Inquiry today, Jockey J Shankar, the rider of PAGSANJAN,
pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst
riding PAGSANJAN racing to the 1000M in this race, he shifted inwards when
insufficiently clear of LAZAROO causing that horse to be checked. Jockey J Shankar
was suspended from riding in races for a period of three (3) race days with effect from 24
June 2013 and to expire on 5 July 2013, both dates inclusive, to be served consecutively
to his current suspension which expires on 23 June 2013. He was advised of his Right of
A post-race veterinary examination of BUENA VISTA (I Azhar) revealed that it was
lame near fore and as such will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being
declared to race again.
The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that LAZAROO returned having cast its off fore
plate and DARING SPLENDOUR (J De Souza) returned with a cut to its near hind leg.
DARING SPLENDOUR will be required to undergo a veterinary examination before
being declared to race again.
A post-race veterinary examination of UPTHEANTE revealed no obvious abnormality.
The Stewards questioned Jockey LL Tai regarding the performance FOX OVATION in
this race. Jockey LL Tai confirmed his instructions were to be well-back which were
confirmed by the Stewards from the Trainers Instruction Form. He stated that shortly
after leaving the barrier, the gelding felt uncomfortable in its action and as a consequence
from a wide barrier, he got back to last. He further stated that racing to the 1000M, he
had to steady to avoid the heels of LAZAROO. A post-race veterinary examination of
FOX OVATION revealed that it was lame near fore and as such will be required to pass a
1000M/vet test before being declared to race again. The gelding was impounded.
