RACE 9 [TF915]
CLASS 3 1400M
The race was delayed as SOLOIST (App A Feiruz), which was fractious in the barrier, broke a breast plate and had to be replaced. SOLOIST will be required to pass one starting stall test prior to being entered to race again in terms of MRA Rule 78(2).
MARIBEAU (Alan Ng) began awkwardly and lost ground.
BIG CHOICE (J Saimee) and RUSSIAN SAFARI (V Sivan) were both slow to begin and hampered shortly after when DORIGINAL (D Beasley) shifted outwards.
LOCKDOWN (R Fradd) and SMART GENERAL (G De Souza) both raced fiercely in the early and middle stages.
DORIGINAL was obliged to race wide without cover throughout.
MARIBEAU raced wide from the 800m.
Near the 300m, LOCKDOWN steadied when disappointed for a run between SHING YI (M Kellady) and MUSIC MASTER (S John), which shifted inwards.
Approaching the Winning Post, BEST KNIGHT (M Gallagher) steadied when crowded between DORIGINAL, which shifted inwards and SOLOIST, which shifted outwards under pressure.
The Veterinary Surgeon reported that SMART GENERAL had returned with the saddle having slipped back during the running of the race.

SINGAPORE JULY MEETING 2009
FRIDAY, 17 JULY 2009:
RACE 7 [TF875]
On Friday, 24 July 2009, the Stewards concluded an Inquiry into the reasons for SRIJANA (B Vorster) having to check when racing to the inside of CLASSIC EXPRESS (D Beasley) and NEW ROSE WOOD (R Woodworth). It was established that shortly after passing the 1200m, SRIJANA had to check and lost ground when crowded slightly by CLASSIC EXPRESS, which when overracing, was taken inwards slightly by NEW ROSE WOOD. In the circumstances, no blame could be attributed to any rider and as such, no further action was taken. However, Jockey Woodworth was warned and advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.
SINGAPORE JULY MEETING 2009
WEDNESDAY, 22 JULY 2009:
RACE 8 [TF905]
At the conclusion of an Inquiry on Friday, 24 July 2009, Jockey O Chavez, the rider of MAGIC LEG, was found guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding MAGIC LEG in the eighth race at the Singapore Turf Club Meeting on Wednesday, 22 July 2009, shortly after making the turn into the straight, he permitted his mount to shift outwards when riding it along and insufficiently clear of SHINKO EXPRESS (J Saimee), resulting in that gelding being crowded for room and having to be checked. When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account his record, degree of interference, carelessness and submissions from Jockey Chavez that he has been engaged to ride at the Singapore Race Meetings on Friday, 31 July 2009 and Sunday, 02 August 2009. The Stewards determined to suspend his licence to ride in races and acting under MRA Rule 48(5), the commencement of the suspension was deferred to begin on Monday, 03 August 2009 until Sunday, 09 August 2009 both dates inclusive (three Race Days). He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
Jockey Chavez subsequently exercised his Right of Appeal against the decision of the Stipendiary Stewards and the penalty imposed on him. On application, he was granted a Stay of Sentence. The Appeal will be heard at a date to be fixed.
RACE 9 [TF906]
Trainer M Freedman was fined a sum of S$500 in terms of MRA Rule 35(1) in that CROWN OF LUCK (D Beasley) was presented with a Tongue-Tie which was not part of its approved gear.
