RACE 1 [TF1197]
SINGAPORE BOTANIC GARDENS STAKES
CLASS 5 POLYTRACK 1200M

GENOVA AT WORK (O Chavez) lost ground after jumping away awkwardly.

MONEY BEE (D Chee) was slow into stride.

Near the 800m, EXCELLENT BEAUTY (M Nunes) got its head up when being
eased after laying inwards.

PROSPERITY STAR (B Vorster) had difficulty obtaining completely clear
running in the straight.

Jockey Chavez, when questioned regarding the run of GENOVA AT WORK,
stated that after jumping away awkwardly, he raced back in the field,
however, he was not overly concerned as in his opinion, he felt that GENOVA
AT WORK was suited by racing in this position. He also stated that due to
the weather conditions, he had limited visibility and was cautious when
making ground from the 800m. He further stated that GENOVA AT WORK ran
on well when placed under pressure, however, he also stated that the early
pace had assisted in making ground on the leaders. Jockey Chavez also
stated that when making ground in the straight, he was unable to fully ride
his mount out over the concluding stages when awkwardly placed on heels.
His explanation was noted. A subsequent veterinary examination was
requested on GENOVA AT WORK which revealed no apparent abnormality.

All riders returned to scale an average of 1½kgs overweight due to the
weather conditions.
