SINGAPORE SEPTEMBER MEETING 2012
FRIDAY, 21 SEPTEMBER 2012:
RACE 4 [TF1265]
On Sunday, 07 October 2012, the Stewards concluded an Inquiry into the
reasons for MYSTICAL DIAMOND (App R Shafiq) having to check when racing
to the inside of DRAGON PLAYER (HK Cheng) near the 200m. It was
established that near the 200m, DRAGON PLAYER shifted inwards abruptly
under pressure and then continued to shift inwards despite the efforts of its
rider, resulting in MYSTICAL DIAMOND having to check. In the
circumstances, no blame could be attributed to any rider and as such, no
further action was taken. However, Jockey Cheng was warned and advised
that he must make a greater effort to straighten his mount when shifting
ground in future.
RACE 6 [TF1267]
At the conclusion of an Inquiry on Sunday, 07 October 2012, App TH Koh,
the rider of IM SUPERMAN, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding
under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding IM SUPERMAN in Race 6 at
the Singapore Turf Club Meeting on Friday, 21 September 2012, near the
200m, he made insufficient effort to straighten his mount, thereby allowing it
to shift inwards, carrying SOLDIER OF HONOUR (Alan Ng) in and crowding
FAITHFUL WARRIOR (App Z Zuriman), which checked and lost ground. When
deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account his record, guilty plea,
the degree of interference and carelessness and submissions from App Koh
that he has been engaged to ride at the Singapore Race Meeting on Friday,
12 October 2012. The Stewards determined to suspend his licence to ride in
races and acting under MRA Rule 48(5), the commencement of the
suspension was deferred to begin on Saturday, 13 October 2012 until
Sunday, 14 October 2012 both dates inclusive (two Race Days). He was
advised of his Right of Appeal.
