RACE 3 (R1008) SOVEREIGN 1954 HANDICAP, Class 4 1400M (lc)
Emergency acceptors, SPEED LEOPARD and KIM STAR were withdrawn due to a
SUN SUPREME which was up 15kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by
the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.
Acting on veterinary advice that CHEEK TO CHEEK was lame off fore, the Stewards
ordered the withdrawal of the gelding at 2:45pm. The gelding will be required to pass a
test (1000M/vet) before being entered to race again.
The Stewards permitted Jockey B Tai to replace Jockey A Kennedy on TEZIZARIB as
the latter was stood down by the Club Medical Officer.
WIENER was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and was passed fit to race.
TEZIZARIB (B Tai) which proved difficult to proceed to the start and was difficult to be
loaded and had to be loaded riderless, was withdrawn by order of the Stewards at
3:13pm. The gelding will be required to pass a test (starting stall, to be ridden unaided to
the start) before being entered to race again.
YOU LITTLE RIPPER (C Goon) showed no early pace despite being urged along.
Near the 800M, KAKA (HK Cheng) steadied off the heels of WIENER (J Shankar)
which rolled inwards.
Near the 50M, YOU LITTLE RIPPER which was improving, switched inwards across
the heels of SUN SUPREME (DJ Miller) and in doing so, bumped ESPERANZA (TM
Jockey J Low, the rider of NO UNCERTAINTY, reported that his horse hung outwards
throughout the race.
Post-race veterinary examinations of COUNT ZERPOUR and GOOD GIFT revealed no
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of CONQUISTADOR,
Jockey BN Shahrul stated that he was instructed to get a good jump and go to the front if
possible or to sit 2nd or 3rd and do his best in the home straight. He further stated that near
the 500M, CONQUISTADOR was travelling well, however, near the 400M when he
asked for an effort, CONQUISTADOR did not respond as expected and was
disappointing. His explanation was noted.
Trainer Edylyn Goh confirmed the instructions and stated that CONQUISTADOR which
was resuming from a spell today, has been working well recently. She added that she
expected the gelding to run a good race today, however, the gelding was disappointing.
Trainer Edylyn Goh was advised that if she detects any abnormality with the gelding after
cooling down, she would be expected to report this to the Stewards. Her explanation was
noted. A post-race veterinary examination of CONQUISTADOR revealed no obvious
abnormality. The gelding was impounded.
