STIPE'S REPORT RACE 1 [TF997] CLASS 5 1200M GENOVA AT WORK (O Chavez) was slow to begin after jumping away awkwardly. JUMBO CAN (App P Dellorto) was slow to begin. Near the 1000m, RISKY VENTURE (E Aslam) was buffeted when racing tight to the inside of SUN ENTERPRISE (G Cheyne), which was carried inwards slightly by SUPER VELOX (V Sivan). Shortly after passing the 800m, REAL GOODMAN (YF Leong) checked when racing to the inside of DAN NOBLE (D Chee) and RISKY VENTURE. KUTI KUTI (App WL Tan), which was following, was also inconvenienced in this incident. At a subsequent Inquiry, Jockey Aslam pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that near the 700m, he allowed his mount to shift inwards, when insufficiently clear, thereby crowding DAN NOBLE in onto REAL GOODMAN, which checked and lost ground. When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account his record and the degree of interference and carelessness. He was suspended from riding in races with effect from Saturday, 28 July 2012 to Sunday, 29 July 2012 both dates inclusive (two Race Days) and was advised of his Right of Appeal. GENOVA AT WORK had a tendency to lay inwards in the straight. Jockey B Vorster, the rider of REDPACKETDAY, reported that his horse was making respiratory noises. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed that the horse exhibited signs of respiratory distress after the race. REDPACKETDAY will be required to pass a 1000m gallop trial and veterinary examination prior to being declared to race again.
