STIPE'S REPORT RACE 1 (R969) Class 5  1600M (lc) Acting on veterinary advice that SOUNDS GOOD was lame near fore, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of the gelding at 1pm. The gelding will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being entered to race again. The Stewards permitted Jockey J Shankar to replace Jockey DJ Miller on BETTER YEAR as the latters documentation was not in order. BLESSINGINDISGUISE (App CK Tan) was slow into stride. BETTER YEAR (J Shankar) and ADIK (M Yusri) were both slowly away. NEVERANINCH (S Sani) jumped awkwardly, and was difficult to settle in the early and middle stages. Near the 700M, ANISH (J Low) which was inclined to lay outwards, steadied off the heels of HIGH QUALITY (I Azhar). SUPERFLY SISTER (S Salee) and BETTER YEAR both raced wide throughout the race. A post-race veterinary examination of NEVERANINCH revealed no obvious abnormality. When questioned regarding his ride on ADIK, Jockey M Yusri stated that he was instructed to jump well, sit midfield and move slowly into the race. He said that ADIK was slowly away and as such he was unable to sit midfield as instructed despite urging his mount in the early stages. His explanation was noted. Trainer Evert van Breukelen confirmed the instructions and advised the Stewards that he told Jockey M Yusri that ADIK has a history of being slowly away and not to panic if ADIK was slowly away again today. Trainer Evert van Breukelen further stated that he also instructed Jockey M Yusri to ride hands and heels in the straight as ADIK does not run on well when being ridden with the whip. His explanation was noted. A post-race veterinary examination of ADIK revealed no obvious abnormality.
