RACE 1 (R881) Class 5 1100m
MILLIONAIRE PAUPER which was down 17kgs in body weight since its last run, was
checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to race.
Acting on veterinary advice that NEW GREEN WOOD had cast itself in the holding yard
and had sustained bruises to its near hind fetlock and pastern, was withdrawn by order of
the Stewards at 12:15pm. The gelding will be required to pass a veterinary examination
before being declared to race again.
Acting on veterinary advice that GOLDEN BALL was lame off fore, the Stewards
ordered the withdrawal of the gelding at 1:41pm. The gelding will be required to pass a
test (1000M/vet) before being entered to race again.
Shortly after the start, DUSKY MAIDEN (J Shankar), MILLIONAIRE PAUPER (App
CK Tan) and STINGS LEICA BEE (S Sani) all came together.
COLOURLAND CLASSIC (App A Nawawi) showed no early pace despite being urged
along.
Near the 1000M, STINGS LEICA BEE had to steady when crowded for room between
DUSKY MAIDEN, which was difficult to settle, running about and MILLIONAIRE
PAUPER which laid inwards away from THUNDER MAN (K Eirwan). DUSKY
MAIDEN and STINGS LEICA BEE lost ground in this incident.
Near the 900M, SINAR GEMILANG (Y Aify) and THE KARDASH (J Low) brushed.
Shortly afterwards near the 800M, THE KARDASH steadied off the heels of SINAR
GEMILANG which rolled outwards slightly.
Near the 400M, THE KARDASH rolled outwards slightly and SINAR GEMILANG
rolled inwards, causing SINAR GEMILANG and THE KARDASH to become
unbalanced.
Near the 250M, DUSKY MAIDEN which was improving, was held up when
disappointed for a run between COLOURLAND CLASSIC and ROCKET ELITE (C
Goon).
Shortly afterwards near the 200M, ROCKET ELITE steadied when momentarily
crowded for room between COLOURLAND CLASSIC and THUNDER MAN which
rolled inwards, obliging its rider to stop and straighten.
Post-race veterinary examinations of ROCKET ELITE and THUNDER MAN (K
Eirwan) revealed no obvious abnormality.
The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that DUSKY MAIDEN returned lame off fore and
will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again.
MILLIONAIRE PAUPER which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet)
before being entered to race again.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of THUNDER MAN, jockey
K Eirwan stated that he was instructed to get a good jump and ride forward if possible to
lead, however he was unable to lead comfortably from an outside barrier and was forced
to race wide throughout the race and when he asked for an effort in the home straight, his
mount did not respond and was disappointing. His explanation was noted.
Trainer MH Wee confirmed the instructions and believed that the outside barrier today
and racing wide, had contributed to THUNDER MANs performance today. Trainer
Wee further explained that THUNDER MAN had been working well recently and he
expected THUNDER MAN to run a good race, however it was disappointing. Trainer
Wee was advised that if he detects any abnormality with THUNDER MAN once it had
cooled down, he would be expected to report back to the Stewards. His explanation was
noted. THUNDER MAN was impounded.
When questioned regarding his whip use in the home straight, jockey C Goon, the rider
of ROCKET ELITE ensured the Stewards that there was whip contact every second
stride in the backhand. The Stewards told Jockey C Goon to ride in a manner so as to
leave no room for query.
