RACE 1 (R813) Class 5 1400M (long course-A)
Penang Turf Club Trophy
Upon jumping, DESTINY QUEST (W Smith) jumped inwards and made contact
with EXCELLENT GOAL (J Low).
CONCRESCENCE (M Zaidi) was slow to begin.
BREAK ON THROUGHs (R Jasmin) saddle slipped backwards during the race
placing its rider at a disadvantage.
Jockey K Eirwan, rider of AJAY STAR, reported that the gelding laid in at the
600M. Jockey K Eirwan told the Stewards he had a very good run throughout
the race and that from the inside of 400M he commenced to ride AJAY STAR
with a whip and it responded until the 200M, when AJAY STAR commenced to
weaken out of the race. Post-race veterinary examination of AJAY STAR
revealed no obvious abnormality and the gelding was impounded.
Jockey SH Lee, the rider of BUKIT SINGA, reported that his horse was not
striding out freely. Post-race veterinary examination of BUKIT SINGA revealed
no obvious abnormality.
Trainer J Brink, trainer of EXCELLENT GOAL, was asked to explain the apparent
improved performance in the geldings winning today as against its most recent
starts. Trainer J Brink explained that his instructions were to race mid to back
and that was confirmed by the Trainers Instruction Form. He also stated that he
had instructed his rider Jockey J Low to be aggressive on the gelding. He further
stated that EXCELLENT GOAL had been working well and had raced up to its
good track work.
The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that JERAM JUMBO and SAMARA
returned lame near fore. Both JERAM JUMBO and SAMARA will be required to
pass a test (1000M/vet) before being entered to race again.
