RACE 1 [TF792]
MAIDEN 1000M
Trainer J OHara was fined a sum of S$200 for negligence in terms of MRA
Rule 152(5)(a) in that he failed to submit his request for App CS Chin to ride
DESERT VIKING without claiming his full allowance within the prescribed time
at Declarations.
Prior to this event, Trainer L Laxon advised the Stewards the instructions to
App TH Koh, the rider of BEYONCE, will be not to use the whip behind the
saddle as the filly has previously shown resentment to this. Public
announcements were made to this effect.
BEYONCE was slow to begin and bumped shortly after when ZAC COMMAND
(I Saifudin) shifted inwards.
MAGIC OCEAN (S Baster) and NEWFOUNDWEALTH (I Santana) were both
slow to begin.
Passing the 900m, JERAM ROSE WOOD (M Ewe) steadied when crowded
between JUST LIKE THAT (J Powell), which was carried outwards by HEARTS
(S Sam) and ZAC COMMAND, which shifted inwards. Jockey Saifudin was
subsequently shown the film of the incident and warned to exercise greater
care when shifting ground in future.
For a short distance passing the 800m, JERAM ROSE WOOD raced tight
between JUST LIKE THAT and BEYONCE.
JERAM ROSE WOOD hung outwards passing the 700m and raced wide from
that point.
Shortly after making the turn into the straight, MAGIC OCEAN was hampered
after JERAM ROSE WOOD was carried outwards by BEYONCE, which shifted
outwards to improve.
MAGIC OCEAN laid inwards under pressure in the straight.
The Farrier reported that HEARTS returned having cast its off-fore plate.
A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on SUCCESS WINNIE
(App SH Low) which revealed no apparent abnormality.
App Koh, when questioned regarding the disappointing performance of
BEYONCE, stated that he was instructed to lead but after being crowded at
the start, he settled further back than anticipated. He added that the filly
travelled only fairly and failed to run on when placed under pressure. His
explanation was noted. BEYONCE was impounded for routine veterinary and
analytical examination. The Veterinary Surgeon reported no apparent
abnormality.
Jockey Saifudin, when questioned regarding ZAC COMMAND racing forward
today, stated that he was instructed to settle midfield but the gelding began
well and when runners to his inside failed to improve, he allowed ZAC
COMMAND to stride forward to avoid covering excessive ground. His
explanation was noted.
