RACE 1 [TF732]
CLASS 5 POLYTRACK 1000M
ZENA (M Suhaimi) was slow to begin.
SPEEDY PHIL (KB Soo) began awkwardly.
DECOUPER (G Cheyne) and HIGH CENTENNIAL (M Ewe) both raced wide
without cover throughout.
HELLOLO (App R Shafiq) laid inwards under pressure in the straight.
Approaching the 200m, HIGH CENTENNIAL broke down and fell dislodging its
rider. The Veterinary Surgeon reported that HIGH CENTENNIAL fractured its
off-fore leg and was subsequently humanely euthanised.
Passing the 200m, WINNING DAN (App P Dellorto) steadied when
disappointed for a run between SPEEDY PHIL and KYLENE (App TH Koh).
WINNING DAN then shifted inwards and was unable to improve whilst racing
behind CARNIVAL STAR (App R Zawari) and to the inside of KYLENE.
Jockey Soo, when questioned regarding the performance of SPEEDY PHIL,
stated that the gelding failed to show the anticipated early pace and did not
travel well at any stage and despite being pressured from the 700m, failed to
run on. His explanation was noted. SPEEDY PHIL was impounded for routine
veterinary and analytical examination. The Veterinary Surgeon reported no
apparent abnormality.
Following the running of Race 1, Jockey Ewe, the rider of HIGH CENTENNIAL,
was examined by the Course Medical Officer who declared him unfit to fulfil
his remaining riding engagements.
