RACE 1 (R433) RAMONA HANDICAP, Class 5 1600M
MADAM JADE, a course scratching as it was sore off fore fetlock, will be required to
undergo a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
Emergency acceptor, MIGHTY STORM was withdrawn due to a capacity field.
At the start, EZEE DOES IT (S Salee), BOLD BOLD FLY (J Shankar) and
RENDEZVOUS (App KY Yap) were all slowly away.
Near the 1200M, BOLD BOLD FLY steadied momentarily off the heels of MONEY UP.
RECIPROCAL (HK Cheng) raced wide on the first turn.
RECIPROCAL raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
Near the 150M, SPEED HAPPY (J Low) was crowded for room between BOLD BOLD
FLY and RENDEZVOUS which laid inwards under pressure.
When questioned regarding the apparent improved performance of CITY OF HOPE (K
Eirwan), Trainer KM Noordin explained that CITY OF HOPE was unsuited on the soft
going in its last start on 3rd March 2012 at PRTC in Class 5 over the 1600M when it
finished 10th beaten 32 lengths. He said that after that race, CITY OF HOPE was required
to pass a 1000M/vet test which he completed recently. He further explained that the
benefit of that trial and that the good track today had suited the gelding when racing
back against the home-based horses. He further added CITY OF HOPE had been doing
normal work leading up to todays race and expected the gelding to run a fair race in a
weaker field today. His explanation was noted and his attention was drawn to the Rules
regarding in and out running.
Jockey O Chavez, the rider of HOLYSTONE, reported that his horse showed no interest
in the race. A post-race veterinary examination of HOLYSTONE revealed no obvious
abnormality.
The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that MONEY UP bled and will be barred from
racing for a period of three (3) months under MRA Rule 92(3)(a)&(b).
